Bloodstone is considered a variety of Quartz! Element: Earth Birthstone: March / Aries, Pisces Chakras: Root (1st) Key Traits: : Purification, Courage, Strength, Balance, Detoxification, Well-Being Bloodstone is an excellent purifier and healing stone, a tool to help bring one's energies into balance. Bloodstone strengthens the Root Chakra, the reservoir of our physical energies, and encourages one to move through life full of vigor and vitality. It is a grounding stone, providing strength to the physical body and courage to the heart during times of difficulty. It lends support and keeps one from discouragement while encouraging one to maintain faith in the Divine. When one is beset with obstacles and overcoming them is difficult, he or she is suggested to summon the aid of Bloodstone. As suggested by the name, Bloodstone is helpful for all types of blood infirmities. It cleanses the bone marrow, whereby lies the source of blood, and the blood itself, and can be used to treat anemia.

I'd say you're really gambling with this purchase. The stones definitely are NOT like what is pictured. I was suckered by the photo, and hoped I would receive at least one stone like pictured-- not a one. While I like rocks, this receives only a two star rating, because I am disappointed in the lack of variation and I would NOT have chosen them in a store-- I already own enough green bloodstones-- I wanted some really different variations.
I contacted sellers and am being sent a replacement set.
UPDATE 7 Feb 2017:
Unfortunately, the replacement set is also a standard, unremarkable green with *some* spots. Do NOT be misled by the picture, as the picture is not indicative of what you will receive. As much as I love "rocks," I recommend this product ONLY if you want the stone and are not that concerned with its appearance (for color variation), otherwise, try a local shop maybe.
I'm normally pretty happy with Crystal Allies Materials, but not this time. I should have saved the money and bought stones from a local store.
I do not recommend this particular product if basing for color variation as pictured.
UPDATE: 08 Feb 2017
I had to get out of my boxed thinking to re-rate this order from a 2-star (for the reasons stated above) to a 4-star. Why the change, and to such a degree?
Yes, the bloodstones I received are rather "standard" in their green color and very little flecking. I have received more interesting bloodstones in mixed bag lots. HOWEVER, what I hadn't considered is the variety of uses for the common look of bloodstone, in smoothness of this tumbled 1lb (I received the initial product and replacement product through seller New Silk Road; they have done right by me, and this product review is not a reflection of the seller) bag. I got to thinking about little water fountains (or large ones, if you have that kind of money!), in which these would actually look really nice. Though common for color, their shape does lend some interest, and might be useful as a "worry stone," or just a sort of "entertainment for the hand/s" of people who are fidgety. They are of decent tumbled size, smooth, with a kind of glassy type luster (I'm not expert, not by any means). As a bulk purchase, and not for resale, these are of sufficient quality and quantity and may be used in fountains, potted plants, flower beds, rock gardens, or just in a glass bowl on a counter. For the type of uses I've just named, these are certainly worthy of 4-stars, and I would recommend them for that kind of general purpose.
Yes, I'm disappointed in my purchase; I am about to make an out-of-state move, however, so I know I haven't the opportunity to explore the many possibilities for this small bulk purchase. I will, of course, update this review again if I find anything different with this particular product.
If all you want is common bloodstone, this is a decent product.
