Top-tier GBA experience in original layout.

Package arrived quickly and setup was a breeze. A-button was mashy, so I opened the unit with the included screwdriver and swapped the rubber button pad. Works flawlessly now. The speaker is in a weird spot and I find myself occasionally covering it with my thumb. No biggie. Unit isn't powerful enough for SNES emu, so the Y and X face buttons exist for easy access to the shoulder buttons. Much appreciated in some titles. Higher res screen has vertical stretching which I prefer now to original aspect it's helpful with text from my experience. TV-out works fine with included cable. Battery life is around 3hrs if I were to guess. Works great with a 32GB micro-sd.

In-game saves are made to the sd-card, I haven't figured out how to do save-states. Don't need 'em. NES emu works good with only slight pitch problems with audio. GB/GBC work just fine. Game Gear works decently. Functions as a real GBA, plays legal backups, and gives a solid NES experience. Highly recommend.

This is the Re-release of the Crystal Revo K101, the main differences it seems are the SNES colored A B X Y buttons, and how the buttons feel themselves.
First I will cover the details about just the Revo k101+, not things exclusive to the newest release.

What IS the Revo K101+?
------------------
In short, think of this as an upgrade to the GBA Micro, it has a classic GBA Form factor, with a backlit screen.
It can play just about any GBA cart or backup you throw at it, as it used hardware emulation, as apposed to glitchy error prone software emulation,
this had hardware that's just like a real GBA!

While it can use SOFTWARE emulation to run GB and GBC games, it will not play the cartridges for those systems, only GBA carts,
it also dose not support multiplayer linking for those systems.

While it dose have X and Y buttons, it dose not support snes game, those are mapped to L/R to give you a faster way to press those buttons.

Why Go with this over a normal GBA?

This offers quite a few features that the original GBA never even had:

-TV Out:
You can play your games on the TV! You can simply plug the included cable into the top of the revo,
and connect to the Composite ports on your tv (the yellow/white/red plugs)
It only supports Mono, (one audio channel) and while it may not look as clear and crisp as a gameboy player,
It's much more portable.

-Higher resolution screen:
more pixels than the screen then the original GBA! This unit has a 96-0x480 screen compared to the 240 × 160 screen of the original Game boy advance! With multiple display options, as it changes the aspect ratio.
Don't like the scaling?
You can make the game play in the original 240 × 160 in a smaller portion of the screen.

-Built in Backlight!
Unlike most GBA SP's that used the front light, this uses a backlight much like the GBA micro, with this, you get much better lighting, and the colors look much better!

-Plays backups, and Mods and homebrew.
Have a pokemon mod you want to play? Now you can! With a Built in Real Time Clock, you can even play mods that uses clock functions!
You can even add cheats! And read text guides without closing the game.
They all load very fast, and play at full speed, this is likely due to the fact that they games and saves are dumped into the ram and ran straight from the ram. (ONLY when playing from a SD card files, REAL gba cartridges are run straight from the cartridge)

When the game are run in ram, all saves are saved to the ram ONLY. In order to keep your save you'll need to transfer (after the unit is powered off) it back to the SD card. This is pretty easy, simply just open the revo menu while playing the game: (brigtness) +L OR use the quick backup command:
(brightness) + START
This dose add an extra step you hav to remember every time you play backups/ mods, so I just open the revo menu every time I'd done playing, and quit the game through that, making that a habbit means I never have to remmember to manually back up my save. (But I still wish they had an auto backup option)
[NOTE: When Playing REAL GBA games from a Real Cartridge, you NEVER need to worry about backing up your save , as all saves are saved right to the cartridge]

-Sleep mode! (by far my favorite feature!)
Remember being able to close your Nintendo DS to save battery and turn off the screen? Remember how that NEVER worked with GBA games in the DS?
Well with the revo, when playing a cartridge, mod, backup or software emulator, you can quickly press (brightness) + R to put your system in sleep mode!
It pauses the game, and turns off the screen, so you can come back to it later!
There's even an option to make the system automatically enter sleep mode if you're not playing for a set amount of time (eg. 10 mins)

-Play older systems with software emulation:
While acting as a Game boy advance it can also play GBC, GB, NES, SMS,Gamegear, and more,
but only the NES games seem to support multiplayer, so that means no linkplay with GBC or GB games at this time :(
Also just like with mods and backups, to save your (already saved ingame) progress you'll have to back up your save using the same method as the ones used for GBA Homebrew/mods/backups.

-Plays Media?
Play mp3's Look at photo's and read TXT files,
yeah, sure you phone can probably do all this and more, but why not have it?

Yes, you can use save files from your PC, or dumped from a cartridge,
but they have to be converted, yes the converted saves should still work on your PC,

How is this different from the older version of the k101+ ?

I reviewed the white revo k101+ a while back, and to me the buttons feet a little squishy, but they worked just fine, I had no problems getting precise inputs, the only thing that I had an issue with was the L/R buttons. They felt very loose, again, very usable, but a bit louse.
With this new version of the Crystal Revo101, the buttons are noticeably better, more springy, and the L/R buttons (while still not hinges like on the original GBA) Feel MUCH better.

This version comes with a translucent k-card, the micro SD card adapter used for placing backups, mods,etc.
but it's compatible with the older white k-cards as well. (Micro SD card not included)

I've tired add images, but it seems like it's not working for me.

Don't waste your money. buy a used or refurbished GBA. My revo k101 worked for a month, then i set it down to play my 3ds. when i went back to it today it will not power on and will not charge. piece of junk.
