The act of reading the Crystal Grave gets rather interesting when we find two ‘essences’ living inside the crystal grotto: the first one is Alpha, a good essence that has a lovely way of saying goodnight, which I will reveal to you at the end of this review; and the second one is Rector, an evil essence, which is best to leave alone. But please allow me to say something about the ‘mystery’ of these essences: they’ve been ‘living’ inside the cave for over 15,000 years. Curious, isn’t it? I’d qualify this as most intriguing.
The acquisition of knowledge continues and, in some ways, gets easier by the use of holograms. One of the reasons the TC (a consortium) wants to obtain this knowledge is because it will allow them to produce cold fusion energy in almost unlimited quantities. The problem with the TC is that they want to know which are the products needed for this, so they can corner the market and become even richer and more powerful. The CIA is trying to prevent this market cornering from happening. As they say; ‘the plot thickens’ and frankly it gets so twisted that one of the main characters says: “… This is starting to sound like a science fiction movie.” Well, the fact is that the trilogy could easily be made into three movies. The ending is also very intriguing and, somehow, you end up feeling that this whole trilogy is possible. Oh, before I forget, Alpha bids goodnight thus: ‘Embrace your dreams.’ What a lovely way of wishing you a restful night. Good reading: Five Stars, Jake Taylor
The uncovering of the advanced technologies of the so ancient culture moves slowly in order to not upset the international economy. The skull trio speaks directly now with the essence of he who embedded the knowledge of the ancients in the crystal cave thousands of years before. This man was a man with a dream, a vision, of preserving their knowledge for those who would some day come after and find it; use it to benefit the world.
Yet sometimes dreams can be nightmares; sometimes those who seek to preserve wish to preserve only themselves and their obsession with power--with ruling and subjugating the world. The nightmare people are all around us today, as they have always been, in places like the TLC.
The nightmare vision essence wants to rule the world yet needs a human form to do that. Who is the one from this long cooperation between Susan, Dennis, Gary, the CIA, who will be the one, it sets its sights on? To what lengths will this ancient evil go to dominate the TLC--the world? Will Jake be able to continue to protect the three, Janet and their so loyal Princess--the dog who knows no fear, who senses each threat to all or any of them.
With knowledge comes responsibility--who can, who will, acknowledge that; and what does that acknowledgment mean to the world? The answers are in The Crystal Grave. Walk in, if you dare. Not to worry, Indy, no snakes!
