It's solid resin and is 4.5" tall. The inside packaging also can serve as a nice display stand, and the book slips inside of the back portion. I've included some photos to show scale and a truer sense of the color than what you see in Amazon's photos.
If you've read this far, then the book included is nothing much to get excited about. Its target audience: people who otherwise would wonder "who the heck is this Cthulhu fellow?"
The sculpture is one of the better interpretations I've seen, and has a nice heft to it. I'm tempted to buy a second one and use them as matched bookends.
The box it came it does work as show, but is ill fitting and lacks a clear insert. So toss the front of the box, and just keep the alter inset to display it if you want. Make sure the booklet remains in the back though to give it a rigid structure.
The booklet on the other hand feels like fan service written by a hipster fan or a random employee of the publisher. Its depth felt like someone googled Cthulhu and copy and pasted together a booklet. It covers the basic things people probably already know about the Cthulhu Mythos. It also covers some of the more well known games and so forth. So I did not personally find a lot of value in that, and the publishers constant comment of "you can even worship it" on the back of the box and in the booklet made it a little akward. But hey... why not worship a giant Alien being that lives to eat everyone around you - and saves you for last.
Between the average ill fitting packaging, and the lackluster book I can only offer 4 stars.
The booklet is good for anyone without much knowledge of the Cthulhu mythos, but those already familiar probably know all this.
Would make an excellent paperweight or hood ornament :)
