About the Author
Sasha korniak was inspired to write by the Cuban people in Cuba, especially Cuba’s independence leader and national hero Jose Marti and his works of One World, One Nation, Our Americas. Also by women, Celia Sánchez Manduley, Vilma Espín and Haydeé Santamaria, Tamara Bunke Bider, better known as “Tania”, Anne Frank, Alice Walker, author of the The Colour Purple. Cuban Band Los Van Van, and Gente de Zona whose song Bailando is played every minute of the day and could be the new National Anthem. He was influenced by the brilliant, Irish author of adventure travel books for over 40 years, Dervla Murphy. Her book The Island that Dared; Journeys in Cuba, is a three-generation family holiday in Cuba in the company of Dervla, her daughter and three young granddaughters, if now a little dated it is still very informative and relevant. Finally, was the desire to improve his Spanish at Habana University.
