FIRST USE OF YOUR FLATBREAD MAKER

When using your flatbread maker for the first time, you may notice some slight smoking or odor. This is normal with many heating appliances and will not recur. This does not affect the safety of your appliance. Also it is recommended that you discard the first two flatbreads from your new baker.

When using your Grand Wrap baker for the first time, wipe the cooking grids with a damp cloth and dry with an absorbent paper towel. It is normal for a new iron to smoke for a short while the first time it is heated. Discard the first two flatbreads you make on the new grids

Please check the Page number 4 of the User Manual for the instructions for use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected!
By Cecilia on June 21, 2022
I bought this for my two daughters who struggle to roll out tortillas. They are busy college students who live away from home and have limited time to cook meals at home.

After some trial and error we learned that it is best to have the temperature only half way. Press down the lever as far as you can go for about 5 seconds. Then put the tortilla on the cast iron pan (comal) to finish cooking.

The pic is from a recipe from the book which did not include baking powder. Next time I will try my traditional recipe which was similar to the book but with baking powder. I think the baking powder helps create lighter and softer tortillas.

Initially we tried the highest temperature because we like the tortillas to be browned a bit, but they came out too hard. We opted to cook at half heat to flatten the tortilla really well for 5 seconds and finish cooking on the cast iron pan

Honestly I bought it and I am happy with it. You just need to explore it and know how to work with it. It needs practicing if you want to get the bread you wish. However, it is working perfectly.
