About the Author
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, the author finds himself as a misfit there and resorts to writing for escapism from a society that doesn't seem able to digest him. He tried many years publishing in his home country but he found that market impervious to his many attempts of breaking in. So he switched to English as a last resort to outlet his creative efforts. The transition wasn't easy but he managed to achieve his goals by writing several short stories, which allowed him to discover he had the knack, after all. He enjoys sci-fi and owns a quirky sense of humor, so it's natural that his first two books handle these two areas. So far he has published them both in both paperback and e-book format. Cuentos is a compendium of his best short stories, some horror, some science fiction.

This was a very enjoyable read. While I really liked all the stories, my favorite was Old Friends Keep Tabs. The characters interacted so well with each other in this story that I would like to read more William/Clayton tales. The writing was brilliant, and I loved the way this story ended.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes horror/vampire books.
Cuentos is a collection of short stories that entertain you starting with vampires and ending with a device that can change the Universe. In between, you see a few more vampires, a few stories of ghosts and cannibals and then he ends the book with a Science Fiction collection that contains clones, colonization, and a "vacation" through the mind of someone so completely insane that nine other therapists have either become trapped in his mind... or have been eaten. I'll let you decide which.
I highly recommend this for anyone who wants something a little darker but still fun. Edwin has a unique writing style that shines through all of his stories, and he finds a way to make you laugh even when you know that you really shouldn't be laughing at what happened. This short story collection has also made me interested in some of his other books that he mentions (where the short stories were the starting off point for other longer stories to come) so I will be happily adding more of his works to my collection.
Part One is about Vampires, these were my favorite. The Hunter is a short story about a vampire hunter who takes his job to the extreme! The Recycling Kid is a scary YA story about vampires. Old Friends Keep Tabs is a story about checking in on an old friend. (I would love to have more stories with Williams and Clayton.) A Window in Time is a metaphysical tale of soul sucking. Part Two is just plain terror! There are two very twisted horror stories. Part Three is Science Fiction which, I am just starting to enjoy. These are a bit pulp influenced by Bradbury. Also included is an excerpt from AI Rebellion and Eco Station One

Sometimes hard to follow who is who, a series of stories in desperate need of a proofreader.
At first, I thought Cuentos was going to start out as a young adult short story book. Wow, was I wrong!Read more
