The scale does measurements in grams, kilograms, ounces, and pounds. You can change the unit of measurement with a small button on the bottom the the unit. The scale can hold up to 11 pounds, which is more than enough for anything I am shipping or cooking. Additionally, the scale is available in black, silver, and white. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase.
I had a big tub of ricotta and a recipe called for 10 oz of ricotta, and I thought to myself "How much is 10 oz of ricotta? Half a cup? A whole cup?" I had no idea. Then I remembered I had this little nifty scale. And on top of that, this little nifty scale has a sweet tare feature and memory! So, I grab a bowl, place it on the scale, tare it, and then get out my tub of ricotta and scoop scoop scoop until I get 10 oz. Wooo!! Too bad my actual bread that I made with the ricotta wasn't that great. I should have put salt in it like the recipe called for, but I'm not used to using salt with anything so I instinctively ignored it in the recipe.
Great deal on a great little scale. I highly recommend it, especially if you need something useful to pad your order to get free shipping. Everyone needs a little scale, and it can make a great gift. Unless it might be misinterpreted as a "You need to loose weight" gift, since this scale is targeted more for food prep (there's a little booklet on portion control or something in the box).
Now Of course, That was at the time I purchased and I had not used the scale when I gave 5 stars.
Then when I went to use, something different happened. Don't get hasty to make reviews to early before you try out your products.
I Purchased this scale back in Jan. 2013. I did not use until late 2014, never could get it to work. Only stated an error reading, after pushing every button I could find.
I just happened to run across it the other day, I was fooling around with it and finally got it to read some numbers and then it went into a Calibrate mode for a few seconds and turned off.
I found out you have to calibrate using one half of the what the scale can weight. which is 5.5 lbs of the 11 lb rating or 2500 grams I believe.
What a drag, of course i don't just happen to have some scale weights handy. They cost more than what the scale costs.
I am ordering some of the calibration weights, if I get this to calibrate and work, I will update my post and also because,
Update: 5-12-2015 My Birthday tomorrow.
I purchased this scale 2 years ago, Mine quit after 1st time to measuring accurately.
So I returned and change my review to not so good.
I Could not figure out the correct way to calibrate, all I was getting was errors. I put it away in storage, until recently.
Just Recently I purchased some new scales for my selling in eBay, to ship my products. I did some reading and I found out that some scales will not calibrate themselves with just any weight you put on them.
I had read you have to use 1/2 of the maximum weight of what your scale capacity is, then add another 1/2 of that weight to that make a total of 11 lbs exactly, maximum rating of this scale.
Here is what I did, I held down the on button, while at same time pushed the underside button together, until some numbers appeared. I then push the button again and it said calibrate, push the button again, to put 5.5 lbs on the scale, then it said to add another 5.5 lbs, making the total 11 lbs.
Now try and find a 5.5 lb object that weighs exactly that. I had some fishing weights that weighed 10 lbs 14 OZ. I had some 2 OZ calibration weights making my total 11 lbs exactly.
Well 11 lbs was not going to work for the 1st phase of calibration, so I used my new scales and took a gallon milk jug, filled with water to 5.5 lbs exactly. 2 gal jugs at 5.5 lbs will not fit on the scale. When it ask for the next phase to add another 5.5 lbs, I removed the 1st jug and put on the exact 11 lb can of fishing weights.
I then got a message ACC scale calibrated. Wow! was I amazed, my scale I had for 2 years is now working. I now own 4 scales and do not need this no longer.
I am going to sell this one, it is still new in the original open box.
I hope this helps some of the buyers that have had a problem with this scale and still have them. Even when you get a error, you can still probably calibrate, like I did with mine and it worked.
Always remember to never exceed the maximum weight of a scale or I am sure the scale will go out of calibration.
The sad thing was, my manual never had any instructions on how to calibrate this scale, I would think the Mfg. would have more satisfied clients if a little calibrating instructions were included with this scale.
