A high-quality large cooking pot is one of the cornerstones of a well-equipped kitchen, and this roomy 8-quart stockpot will earn a permanent spot on the stove. Designed help make flavorful stock, this pot is also big enough to handle large batches of soup, or beans, or pasta. The thick, hard-anodized aluminum construction conducts heat evenly and efficiently through the sides as well as the base, ideal for gentle simmering, and a tempered glass lid seals in flavor while keeping the contents visible. Because a long handle would be awkward on a pan of this size, the saucepan has two stay-cool loop handles, so it's easy to maneuver even when full.
Cuisinart Chef's Classic hard-anodized cookware features an advanced Quantanium nonstick coating, designed for healthy low-fat cooking. The coating is tough enough for use with metal utensils. Even delicate foods like fish can be cooked without sticking, and cleanup is quick and easy. Every pan is constructed from durable 3mm hard-anodized aluminum, providing superb heat transfer without hot spots. The securely riveted stay-cool steel handles are oven-safe to 500 degrees F, so food can be browned on the stovetop then transferred to the oven to finish cooking. This pan should be hand-washed with a mild detergent, and it carries a limited lifetime warranty against defects. --Simon Leake

the next day, I saluted some mushrooms using a nylon spatula. Again, when cleaning the pan, I noticed new swirl marks that had been left by the nylon spatula.
If the pan can't stand up to the soft kitchen tools I used, it won't be long before the pan is not Non-stick.
Buy a Teflon pan, just not this brand.
(Full disclosure. I have a stainless steel Cuisinart that I love. It is a great pan).
Note: the pan says that it can withstand metal utensils, but for anything coated we just don't believe that - I saw another review where a chef said that His whisk scratched the pan. We've scratched other pans before so we just simply refrain from using metal utensils (my husband prefers wood and other materials anyway).
PROS - light weight, even heating, true non-stick surface, glass lid, handles don't heat up, & perfect size.
CON - the lid is not a tight fit and and could easily fall off the pan with the slightest bump. When moving the pan be sure to hold onto the lid also. This is the reason it rec'd 4 vs 5 stars.
I am replacing a 30 yr old Calphalon set and this time I am purchasing the individual pcs that I want instead of a set. I take really good care of my pans by using appropriate spatulas and wooden spoons. My pans have never seen the inside of a dishwasher. I use my cast iron if it involves high heat. I anticipate that these pans will last me a long time because I can see the quality in the construction.
This pan is well-crafted and genuinely non-stick. It is relatively lightweight (compared to our Calphalon pans), but sturdy. The pan heats evenly and quickly. We frequently wash it in the dishwasher - what can I say, we're lazy - but the pan has managed to survive our rough daily use. In spite of our sloth, the coating remains completely intact, no chipping or peeling.
The lid is equally well-made and fits the pan perfectly. There is no warping or loose glass (a problem I've encountered with other bargain price pans).
Purchase a set, you won't regret it.
