Top customer reviews
In short, I should have been. I have used a variety of brands for pots and pans over the years, from All-Clad to Walmart's Tramontina line (surprisingly excellent; good reviews by Cook's Illustrated got me interested in the first place) to the relatively solid Calphalon, esp. the Tri-Ply line. This took the cake for low quality.
The pan heats incredibly unevenly, which is unsurprising considering the general flimsiness of it (better than what you'd find in a grocery store, but not by much) and in fact it makes strange crackling/popping sounds as it heats up. (I have heated the pan with and without oil, so I am sure this is not the source.) Despite using oil and cooking on high heat for a quick batch of scrambled eggs, eggs stick relentlessly - which is not the case in any other pan I own. It also browns very oddly - the pan, that is; it has developed a strange bubbly-brown coating which is extremely difficult to get off, even with Barkeeper's friend (which always works on my other cookware).
In short, it's a complete waste of money. If you're interested in a budget-friendly cookware, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Highly recommended....oh you should also have Bar Keepers Friend to maintain a high polish on these pans. Typical clean up should be a breeze unless you cooked at too high a temperature.
Low heat and loving care are the secret to using this. It's not your father's Teflon-coated, Wal Mart pan; this is the real deal: an Old School, Chicago steak house work horse that will last a lifetime, and more; it will put to shame every other pot and pan you own, even the ones aunt Charlette gave you for your wedding. If you don't buy this, you will regret it, maybe not tomorrow, or the next day, but forever and ever.
