It takes a lot of food to fill em up. I had to pan cook meats in batches before I bought this pan!
First of all, it's HUGE! Secondly, it is BEAUTIFUL. Third, it cleans up beautifully!
Now, everyone has problems withat stainless steel because it sticks. But it is a tool, it's up to you to know how to use it properly. I have been using stainless for a long time. People buy them, have a bad experience with it, and then donate or yard sale it, and I get to buy them cheap! Haha! So, anyways, if you heat the pan properly, not much sticks. You heat it on medium low until drops of water dance on the surface, NOT evaporate. If it evaporates, it needs to heat up longer. That's the catch, getting the pan temp right before you put the food in!
So, my husband used this pan the other day and had an abundance of spices and what not stuck to the bottom. My son tried to wash it. Couldn't get it clean. My son decided to try the PRESSURE WASHER, I laughed and gave him permission. Five minutes later, no dice. Keep in mind, I'm telling him (literally the WHOLE time) that all he needed to do was soak it in warm, soapy water for a few minutes, and it would wipe right out. He didn't believe me, but eventually, exasperated, threw it in the sink and walked away. Five minutes later he comes back and it's bright and shiny. It soaked for four minutes and took less than a minute to clean.
In the end, I love this pan. I can cook 7 to 8 boneless chicken beasts in this bad boy at one time! It looks beautiful on my pot rack. All pros, no cons. Buy this pan.
Not the most important, but you might want to know...the pan is a lot prettier than what is shown in the Amazon listing. Not so obvious from the illustration is that it is precisely modeled, has a shiny (not satin) finish (see photo), and its handles and rivets are stylish. For me, the handle design is comfortably, ergonomically balanced.
Regarding wear, the pan has been hard used for a month, and spatula and scour marks are not yet in evidence, suggesting it's as good or better quality than any skillet I've owned to date.
I have rarely had a sticking problem with any of my Cuisinart pans. I always give them a quick spray of Pam, whether I'm using additional oil or butter or not, and then add any additional oil (or bacon drippings. Oh my! I'll admit to using that.) Omelets just slip out of the pans, grilled cheese is a breeze. If there is a spot that happens to stick a little, I just fill the pan with hot soapy water and let it soak while I do the rest of the dishes. The skillets and pans always come out sparkling.
The engineering of the cookware is superb in that the heat is distributed so evenly, leaving no hot spots to burn the food. Although I have on occasion stuck one of the pans in the dishwasher with good results, I'm more comfortable washing them by hand as it doesn't take but an extra minute and I can inspect the pans all over each time I wash them, heading off any grease spots on the bottom before they become a problem. I really can't say enough good things about this cookware except that I will continue to buy this brand to fill out my kitchen arsenal.
This will work great as a paella pan, and for large batches of breakfast food. I've only used it a few times so far, and the ridiculously large size has come in handy. We use a flat-top electric stove, although I imagine that this pan would appreciate the flames of a gas stove.
The pan is not too heavy, but it still has a nice weight. It's 18/10 stainless steel, so it's similar to the gauge of nicer stainless steel flatware.
It's definitely not flimsy, and the bottom is dense. The pan heats up nicely on medium heat.
We seared some steaks and then put the pan in the oven, and the steaks turned out nicely. We've replaced a lot of non-stick pans with this skillet.
The all-metal nature of the pan makes it versatile. There is no plastic or coatings. We use a tiny bit of oil or butter to help food slide around easier. Even non-stick pans need some oil after a while. This pan will last much longer than a coated pan.
Clean-up was not as difficult as I thought, but new stainless steel is always easier to clean. The mirror finish helps a lot.
Rated 4 stars for "I like it" (for now). We'll see how things go after a while.
