It takes a lot of food to fill em up. I had to pan cook meats in batches before I bought this pan!
First of all, it's HUGE! Secondly, it is BEAUTIFUL. Third, it cleans up beautifully!
Now, everyone has problems withat stainless steel because it sticks. But it is a tool, it's up to you to know how to use it properly. I have been using stainless for a long time. People buy them, have a bad experience with it, and then donate or yard sale it, and I get to buy them cheap! Haha! So, anyways, if you heat the pan properly, not much sticks. You heat it on medium low until drops of water dance on the surface, NOT evaporate. If it evaporates, it needs to heat up longer. That's the catch, getting the pan temp right before you put the food in!
So, my husband used this pan the other day and had an abundance of spices and what not stuck to the bottom. My son tried to wash it. Couldn't get it clean. My son decided to try the PRESSURE WASHER, I laughed and gave him permission. Five minutes later, no dice. Keep in mind, I'm telling him (literally the WHOLE time) that all he needed to do was soak it in warm, soapy water for a few minutes, and it would wipe right out. He didn't believe me, but eventually, exasperated, threw it in the sink and walked away. Five minutes later he comes back and it's bright and shiny. It soaked for four minutes and took less than a minute to clean.
In the end, I love this pan. I can cook 7 to 8 boneless chicken beasts in this bad boy at one time! It looks beautiful on my pot rack. All pros, no cons. Buy this pan.
This will work great as a paella pan, and for large batches of breakfast food. I've only used it a few times so far, and the ridiculously large size has come in handy. We use a flat-top electric stove, although I imagine that this pan would appreciate the flames of a gas stove.
The pan is not too heavy, but it still has a nice weight. It's 18/10 stainless steel, so it's similar to the gauge of nicer stainless steel flatware.
It's definitely not flimsy, and the bottom is dense. The pan heats up nicely on medium heat.
We seared some steaks and then put the pan in the oven, and the steaks turned out nicely. We've replaced a lot of non-stick pans with this skillet.
The all-metal nature of the pan makes it versatile. There is no plastic or coatings. We use a tiny bit of oil or butter to help food slide around easier. Even non-stick pans need some oil after a while. This pan will last much longer than a coated pan.
Clean-up was not as difficult as I thought, but new stainless steel is always easier to clean. The mirror finish helps a lot.
Rated 4 stars for "I like it" (for now). We'll see how things go after a while.
Larger than any pan I've seen in stores, and at a great price point!
Safety handle and pan handle make it easy to get in and out of oven without burning hands.
Expensive looking and high quality.
Easy to clean, just needs an overnight soak or some vinegar/baking soda magic if you have any tough messes.
This particular brand of stainless steel pans does not do well on gas stovetops and food can easily burn even on low flame. Get yourself a flame tamer if you have a gas stovetop. (VonShef 9 inch Stainless Steel Induction and Gas Hob Heat Diffuser Ring Plate is what I used.)
I was a little reluctant to purchase this large 14 inch Cuisinart skillet. I was in the process of down sizing from a house to an apartment and space might be an issue. Does this single guy entertain often enough to justify having a skillet this big?
The advantage of having a skillet this big is leftovers. Before purchasing this pan, I was cooking from scratch almost every meal or going to a restaurant. This big baby allows me to cook enough for multiple meals. I spend far less time in the kitchen and more time on my hobbies and sports activities.
The 14 inch Cuisinart Classic skillet (722-36H) has approximately a 13 inch diameter cooking surface. The skillet has a long cool handle and a helper handle which comes in handy while cleaning this big baby. The 14 inch skillet is amazingly light for the size. The cooking characteristics of this skillet are excellent. Cleanup is a snap as with all Cuisinart Classic cookware - a little Bar Keepers Friend and it looks new again. You will need a 14 inch splatter shield for this skillet. Normally, I like the heavier cookware, but with pans this big light is a good thing.
Summary for the 14 inch Cuisinart Classic Skillet:
- The skillet has excellent cooking characteristics.
- It is very light weight.
- Cleanup is a snap with Bar Keepers Friend.
- Great price from Amazon.
