I often reach for these over my "expensive" knives! Worth every penny and then some.

Considering the low price, I wasn't sure what I would get with these knives, but I trust the Cuisinart name, and I figured it was worth a shot. I originally bought these so that I wouldn't have to keep taking my "good" kitchen knives on camping trips, but to my surprise, I love them so much that I've kept them in the kitchen to complement the knives I already had. They are super sharp, and have a great ergonomic handle. The weight and balance is really nice. The set includes every type of knife you might need, and I love the fact that each one comes with it's own protective blade guard. When I do take them camping, or to a potluck or anywhere else outside of my home, it's great to be able to both protect the blade from damage, but also to protect the inside of the bags I'm using for transport, and the fingers that will be reaching into them. I also have the option of storing them without the guard because they will stick to the magnetic knife holder I have on my backsplash. My favorite knife of the set is the bread knife, which slices through the crunchiest crust with ease, but also can handle a tender crumb without tearing it up. I also love the yellow utility knife for slices thin skinned fruits and vegetables like tomatoes. It's also great to have a second chef's knife as when I'm cooking with someone else, that's the one everyone seems to need the most. I think these would make a great gift for a young person who is setting up their first home; good knives and cutting boards are so useful!

Very poor quality, made in China

After a few months of use with these knives, the handle on the blue knife detached itself from the blade nearly cutting my finger. Very poor quality, made in China. I called Cuisinart and registered my complain tand sent them a photo of the knife in 2 pieces. They agreed to send me a new knife if I mailed them a check for $5.00. I didn't think this was very magnanimous of them asking me to pay for a new knife since the knives have a lifetime warranty.

I've had these knives for one year now and i submitted a photo after using and sharpening them continuously. Unlike the odd reviews showing pics of the color coming off like people are using belt sanders on the knives these knives have held up the test of time! Just follow instructions, wash by hand and hand dry and keep them in their protective sleeves. Sharpen as needed. Slice with ease. Make thin beautiful slices of tomato with the chef knife or slice warm fresh baked bread with the yellow bread knife. Lovely knives for a great price!

I GOT THE LIGHTNING DEAL AND ONLY PAID $14.99 FOR THESE KNIVES!!!!!!! I JUST THOUGHT THE COLOR WAS A DIFFERENT LINE ON CUISINART PRODUCTS. WHEN THEY CAME I REALIZED THAT IT WAS AN ANTIMICROBIAL, ANTIBACTERIAL COATING. AND THE WARRANTY IS AWESOME. THESE ARE BY FAR THE BEST KNIVES I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. VERY SHARP. VERY EASY TO USE. I HAVE ALWAYS STRUGGLED CUTTING APART A WHOLE CHICKEN INTO IT'S PARTS. BUT THIS KNIFE WENT RIGHT THROUGH AND I HAD THE CHICKEN SEPERATED PERFECTLY IN ABOUT 5 MINUTES! AMAZING KNIVES! EVERY COOK/CHEF NEEDS THESE KNIVES IN THEIR KITCHEN! MY NEIGHBOR ACTUALLY IS A CHEF AND OWNS HER OWN RESTAURANT AND SHE CAME OVER AND TRIED THEM OUT AND ACTUALLY WENT ON HERE AND PAID THE FULL PRICE OF $59.99 FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!! Not even a month of use! The handle stuck in my hand while trying to cut a melon in half. I even didn't try hard. If it even won't let me cut a melon, you guess how bad quality the material is. Please check out the picture before you buy!

The "ceramic" coating is peeling

I bought these a year ago, and I bought them because I believed they were ceramic. I see they changed the title since then to read ceramic-coated, but I doubt even that.

The coating is peeling off. I wash all my knives by hand, so it's not caused by a dishwasher. The knives aren't the degree of sharp I've come to expect from true ceramic knives.

I'm disappointed. I could have gotten a set of steal knives without a peeling coating, just as sharp, for less than I paid for these.

Beware: Coating (paint?) eventually wears off

Basically you get what you pay for here.....nice looking/feel good in the hand but......after 3 months of daily use the "coating" is wearing off. See attached pic. These are pretty much painted to look like high end ceramic knives that are popular right now. Im shopping for replacements because who knows what the coating is made of and whether or not its ending up in the food I cook. For what its worth I sharpened a couple of them after about a months use and they sharpened up fine. If I could do over I'd skip these and get something that will last.

Plastic handles, thick blades make for mediocre knives

In general these knives are ok, but could be better in a couple of ways: The handles are plastic, which don't grip as well as the rubber/silicone handles that some other knife sets have. Also, the blades are too thick for some jobs. For example, in my photo I cut a raw carrot with a thin knife (top) and it was a clean cut. But when cutting a carrot with one of these Cuisinart knives (bottom), the carrot snapped before the knife cut all the way through because the thickness of the blade split the carrot about half way.
