Got the Kitchen Aid 9 Speed mixer and the video I uploaded shows the dramatic difference in slow speeds. I absolutely love the KA mixer by the way.
Who would have thought there were so many choices for something as simple as an electronic hand mixer? So I searched and searched and read reviews and it seemed most complaints were that the low speed wasn't really low. I more or less settled on the Cuisinart CHM-3R Electronic Hand Mixer 3-Speed, Red but was concerned about how it would mix cream cheese. I am grateful that Amazon now offers a potential buyer the option to ask questions to previous buyers so I posted the question on how this mixer worked mixing cream cheese. Thank you to all of those who responded to me! I liked the fact that this mixer has stainless beaters as I'd read reviews of some others where the buyer claimed the chrome was coming off. I also liked the shape of the beaters, the fact that, being left-handed, this mixer had the left/right "swinging" cord, and an ejector button to release the beaters. In fact, I love EVERYTHING about this mixer!
I took the plunge and ordered this mixer and boy, am I glad I did! I have only used it twice to date, and used it to mix cream cheese for the chip dip I make. Let me tell you, this mixer is AWESOME! I'm not sure what the complaints are about the low speed not truly being low, and splattering your stuff all over the place as I have not had that problem at all. (Maybe the user is not placing the beaters down in the bowl deep enough or using a too small bowl in the first place?) My hubby and me both like the finished product - the dip turns out nice and creamy and he stated it even tastes better!Read more ›
A lot of complaints about it "splashing cookie dough on the walls, so you should use a deep bowl, since the lowest speed is too high" and other comments like that.
My answer to that? GREAT! That's exactly the power I want! I want a hand mixer to do the job, not having to revert to my stand mixer all the time. I want power to be able to tackle a lot of different types of food, not just a dozen types, but all kinds of things. If I wanted to buy a slow hand mixer, then I'd go to the lowest wattage one, which I owned 40+ years ago...it barely whipped mashed potatoes! I don't want that anymore, I want a mixer to do what I expect it to and Cuisinart products are known for power! I don't have time to stand there, waiting for the mixer to beat whatever it is because it's too slow.
Obviously people who wrote those comments aren't used to powerful mixers, or if it's too much, how about using only ONE beater? That would solve the problem for them. As for me, I LOVE IT!!!

It drives me crazy! Controlling the bowl, mixer and spoon is impossible on the first speed. I've never used any other speed. It is way to fast. Read morePublished 9 hours ago by San Diego Gal
The box has the following- "SmoothStart Advantage. Ultra-slow speed prevents splatters to keep countertops clean." This is absolutely not true! Read morePublished 1 month ago by Daniel C. Vagle

Worked well, but motor burned out after 2 years. The slowest speed was better than our previous mixer, but still not slow enough. My duaghter used this mixer a lot anyways. Read morePublished 4 months ago by science writer
I used this product less than 10 times before the beaters seem to have stripped the holes they are suppose to stay in and they fall out. Read morePublished 4 months ago by ~Leann
Only 3 speeds and the lowest speed is way too fast (you'd think it was high speed) that it's unusable for most mixing needs.Published 5 months ago by Gregory
