Operating the Hand Blender

This blade mixes and stirs while adding only a minimum of air to your mixture. A gentle up-and-down motion is all you need to make the most flavorful, full-bodied liquid recipes.
Cleaning
Always clean the Smart Stick motor body and blending shaft thoroughly after using.
Remove the blending shaft from the motor body. Clean the motor body only with a sponge or damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners which could scratch the surface. To clean the blending shaft, wash by hand in hot water using mild detergent, or in the dishwasher.

The blade on the second unit snapped in half. Looked like it was starting to rust after two months. Cuisinart was willing to replace if I paid the $10 shipping charge for the new unit and another $10 in shipping to return the faulty unit. Really? $20 that's almost what I paid for the unit so how is that a warranty? Took my business elsewhere.

Awkward two-handed use (or giant hands) required

My 7-year-old Cuisinart Smart Stick finally died and I assumed this would be the replacement. Bizarrely, it is not one-touch operation at all. There's a safety button on the top-- visible as a lump in the pictures, but the video clearly shows a different version with no safety button. You have to hold the safety button down and then press either the high or the low power on the side. I can't manage to do this with one hand and still hold on to the blender; I can do it with two, but that makes it a ridiculous operation. I'm hoping Amazon will take it back even though I already got rid of the box. :-/

I contacted customer service and they acknowledged it was probably a defective unit but I would have to pay for shipping both ways, that's about 80% of the cost of a new blender.
