I have needed a good roasting pan for years and I was tired of "cheaper" roasting pans (very hard to clean) or those aluminum disposable ones so I looked on the internet for a stainless steel one with a good brand name. I am so happy with this roasting pan . . . so far I have used it three times, once for turkey and twice for chickens. The curved rack supports and seems to "hold" the birds together and the cleanup is just a cinch. I have put this pan in the dishwasher and once I even washed it by hand and each time the pan cleans up so easily and looks brand new afterwards. The one and only thing that would make this pan a better product would be if the handles came straight up rather than out from the sides of the pan. I do not understand why the handles add unnecessary length to this pan in the oven, the dishwasher or the sink. Otherwise, I am totally satisfied with this roasting pan and recommend it very highly.

I have always made do with whatever pan I already had in my kitchen. This Thanksgiving I purchased this stainless steel roaster. It was perfect in every way and cleans up bright and shinny like brand new again. I especially like the rack with handles. Should have had this pan all along for all my Thanksgiving Days and all my other big family gatherings. I would recommend it.

Many reviewers comment on this pan's ability to roast a turkey, chicken, etc., and yes, this metal container with solid handles will adequately hold a 20 lb. piece of meat while it sits in the oven, but... after roasting my turkey, I put this on my (flat, glass) stove top to deglaze the pan and make gravy and it buckled, vibrating wildly and splattering contents. Exactly why I replaced my bargain roasting pan. Money wasted for me.

Update (2014): I researched and specifically sought out this model (Cuisinart 7117-16UR) based on America's Test Kitchen's high recommendation back in 2008. Since then, this model has been down-graded to "Not Recommended" in their ratings. This leads me to ask (unless Cuisinart redesigned this pan and left it with the same model number), how did it drop from "Highly Recommended" to "Not Recommended"? It should still be the same pan, and should still perform well, overall, even if newer pans excel compared to this pan's price. What the hell?!?

Bought this to bake a 22 pound turkey for Thanksgiving. The first thing I noticed is how lighter the steel is. Not as sturdy as my older steel baking pans. The handles could have been closer to the pan instead of flatter (making the pan longer) to make more room in the oven, but I have a large oven so it fit well. While the turkey baked the pan popped with the heat. The turkey baked well but the entire pan & rack were splattered with grease. It took soaking & a lot of elbow grease to get it off. Also, the manufacturer should have made rolled edges as they are very sharp.

I ordered this roaster because I really wanted a stainless steel rack (instead of the standard racks that are covered with nonstick). The rack is great... but the roaster is made from metal that's a bit thinner than I was expecting.

I ordered this because it was listed at 16 inches. I have a small, apartment oven and a 16-inch pan would just fit. The handles on this pan extend outward beyond the pan itself by 2.5 inches, making the total size 21 inches: too large for my oven. I returned it for an All-Clad 14-inch, (whose handles are upright and don't contribute to the overall length anyway; ironic) and it's perfect. Otherwise the Cuisinart appeared to be an excellent pan.

This is a beautiful roaster with great handles. Unfortunately, my oven is just a bit over 19 inches deep and this roaster length from handle to handle is almost 21 inches. Be sure to check your oven depth before you order this roaster. Had to return. Product description says roaster length is 20.8 so problem was with me not checking my oven depth.

My husband and I are subscribers to America's Test Kitchen. This roasting pan was recommended by them. White it was not in their highly recommended category (I believe #2?), we went with it due to the price (about half of the #1). We got this mainly for roasting the Thanksgiving turkey and not for everyday use, so felt that this would be an acceptable option for us.

The handles do stick out from the sides of the pan, but this was not an issue for us as it fit just fine in our oven with our giant bird (23 pounds this year) and to me it seemed easier to lift out with these handles. I can see where it would be an issue if your oven was smaller, though. It was sturdy and seemed well made. As other reviewers have pointed out, the v-rack is ok. Although, I do not believe ATK recommends any of the v-racks that come with their recommended (at least the top 2) roasting pans. I believe they recommend buying a seperate one. However, we had no issues with it and it cleaned up just fine.

We used it on the stovetop to cook down the drippings and it handled this fine (however, there is what appears to be a purely cosmetic scorch mark that will not come out, I assume from the stovetop as it is round).

Overall, if you are just planning on using your roasting pan once or twice a year and your oven can handle the size, then I think this is definitely a worthwhile consideration, especially if money is your foremost concern. This seems like a good quality, sturdy pan, and for the price I think it is great. Certainly beats using a disposable or, worse, using the broiler pan that my grandma taught me to use.
