I soon realized the problem was not with the way I poured nor with the spout, but rather the coffee was leaking from the joint between the stainless steel and the black plastic closure above the stainless steel.
I lived with this problem for years until I decided to either buy a new coffeemaker or a replacement carafe. I opted for the latter. Big mistake.
I bought a replacement carafe from Amazon, and within days, I had a new carafe...which leaked the first time I used it. I contacted Cuisinart and was told that they had never heard of such a problem, that no one had ever complained to them about such a problem, and to ask Amazon to replace it. They did, graciously.
I am now using the third carafe...and after one week, it leaks! I dare not go back to Amazon at this stage...or should I? The solution is to buy another coffeemaker, and not a Cuisinart, however I have just spent good money for a replacement and I guess I will have to live with it for a while.
I just don't get it. I thought that the problem with the original pot would have been fixed for the replacement pots.
So much for the Cuisinart name.
These have a stainless body and a plastic rim/handle/spout. After just a couple months, when pouring liquid both leak from where the plastic joins the stainless body. Not sure how I could fix it either, since any kind of glue or sealant would get into the hot liquid. Too bad, they were pretty good until that started happening. Now the only way to use them is to pour over the sink, and have a towel ready to wipe the carafe. Not good. I wouldn't recommend.
I haven't had these very long but great so far. I have no problems pouring without spilling, in fact it forms a very controllable stream with no leakage from between the plastic rim and the steel body.
I bought this to use in a camper to make tea for one and it works fine for that. It replaces a glass one that had broken. The stainless is easy to clean and I won't be picking pieces of glass out of the carpet any more. (I can be a little uncoordinated first thing in the morning).
The plastic rim does form an inside lip that keeps some of the liquid inside no matter how it is tilted. I suppose this would be irritating for coffee drinkers but it works to my advantage with tea. There are always some tea particles in the last bit of tea and this keeps them from making their way into my cup.
I like it so much I bought two and use one in the kitchen also.
I think this product has slightly different specification than the item that came with my unit originally, because if the carafe is not seating on the heating element just right, it does not engage the "drip-stop" feature properly and the coffee remains in the filter.
In the end, it is pretty easy to get it seated properly, so it is still a decent item.

Right after the return period passed it began leaking below the spout where plastic ring meets metal.Published 8 days ago by Steve
It's perfect. Identical to the one I misplaced. My morning coffee while watching the sun rise is a wonderful start to my dayy!Published 1 month ago by James Graham
The leak is because it heats up unevenly. You can screw it down forcefully before starting but a small gap or bubble will appear as it heats up. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Vance
