Bought this, after much on-line research and reading of reviews from cooking websites, to replace our old processor. Comparing it to our old one, I think it deserves the great reviews that led me to purchase it. It has a nice base weight so it doesn’t slide around. It's easy to get the lid on and off and to remove the blade for cleaning. The blade sits low enough that the food in the bottom doesn’t go unprocessed, which was a problem with our old food processor. It’s very powerful (and a little loud), so if you leave your finger on the button too long, you may end up with a purée you didn’t want, but after this happened to me once I learned my lesson and since then it’s worked out perfectly for me. And the picture doesn’t do it justice- it’s a beautiful metallic red (and easy to wipe down as well).

The Good: I love fresh homemade salsa, but I hated dirtying up my larger Cuisinart processor to make it, so I would rarely trouble myself before I found this one. I truly love it. It's so much easier to secure the lid and get blending right away, and I can do everything from chopping veggies to grinding my nuts into flour in order to make pastries.

The Bad: It is very powerful, and can be too powerful at times, so you have to blend in shifts if you don't want certain items pulverized. As other reviewers have pointed out, it makes a terrible noise while chopping, but it's short-lived.

-Makes shrieking noises
-Too powerful at times

I really like this mini food processor. I have a larger Cuisinart food processor as well, but since I am single I thought this smaller one would be a good choice for me. It is small enough that it minces garlic or ginger well and is a lot easier to use for that than my garlic press or mini-grater for this purpose. I do a lot of ethnic cooking and like to use whole spices like nutmeg, cumin seeds, szechuan peppers, ect., grinding them as I need them. Although I don't believe this food processor was intended for that, I found it does it well. I love the fact that the blade will go both directions, one to chop and the other to grind. I can't tell any real difference in the results by using just one or the other method, but using the processor both ways does an excellent job of evenly processing all the spices. When I use it for tomatoes and onions, it chops from coarse to fine depending on how long I hold the button. It gives pretty good control over being able to control how coarse or fine you want the results to be.

Again, I doubt if it was intended for this, but it works well as a blender as well. It works excellent in making dips like hummus by just adding all the ingredients at once. Again, using the blade in both directions helps giving excellent results.

The bowl, blade, and top are much easier to clean than my larger processor. I use this processor almost daily and hardly ever use my larger processor any more. I have taken the larger processor off my counter and it has given me more counter space. I really like the Cuisinart brand as it is always (except for a teakettle I purchased) well made and high quality. I have learned to trust the brand and at this price, the Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus Food Processor is an excellent buy.

After just 40 days my Mini Prep went up in smoke on my kitchen counter. This was just the third time I had even turned it on.
For warranty assistance Cuisinart wanted to charge me 17.95 shipping and handling to replace it plus I had to pay shipping the defective unit to them. Mine went into the garbage can. Also, rust was forming on the blades.

This the second one I purchased. First the lid was warped and in the second one the base was warped. In either case the lid would not close.
What is worst is the customer service. After a very long hold I was interrogated as if I was a child and did not know how to close the lid. I tried to explain this simple issue and the agent hung up.

Bought two of these as gifts having been sold on the 4 cup capacity (both already had 3 cup mini preps but needed something slightly larger). Turns out you can only fill them halfway thereby making them 2 cup capacity. By the time I found and and attempted to return them, the return period had ended. Now I’m stuck with them and buying larger replacements. Misleading advertising and not happy about it.

I bought this to make salad dressings as it has a drip cup on the top to drizzle the oil into. The lid does not seal and it threw liquid all over my kitchen. There may be a seal missing or not. Whatever the reason, it is junk! This is the second cuisinart product I've purchased in my lifetime and disappointed with both. the other was a food processor that worked to shred one batch of zuchinni and quit...died...over. Never again!

I have used this processor to make protein balls and sadly not very happy with it. Firstly it arrived broken in transit. I waited over 1 month to get it there is no point sending it back to wait another 2 months to get a new one.
I’m using it for making what I thought was pretty basic recipe, the only hard ingredient I added was almonds and as you can see from the pic, it failed to chop them up. Maybe this processor can only be used for soft foods but I would have not purchased if I knew that. It took a while to get it to work - tip; you need to ensure no food gets under the blade or it won’t sit fully on the bottom of the container and will not sit into place. Cleaning; ok to clean.

The base of this product appears to be metal but is actually cheap plastic. You can only fill the processor half full or any form of liquid or juice leaks out and makes a huge mess. It's also very difficult to put the top part on the base.

I would recommend wearing ear plugs during use because the noise level when grinding or chopping is very very loud and high-pitched. Remove pets and children from the room to protect their hearing.

The blade seems to be sharp and chops small amounts well. Wash it immediately after use. We either hand-wash the rest or put it in the top rack of the dishwasher.

The processor is best used for chopping very tiny amounts of food. If you want to chop hard vegetables, make sure you cut them into small chunks first.

Due to the noise level, cheap plastic, and low capacity, we can't really recommend this product. Disappointing, given we generally like the Cuisinart brand.

I was enticed to buy this only because of the colour. I should have just went to Walmart or anywhere else to buy a quality one. This usability of this processor is so poorly designed. Food leaks, its so not user friendly, the cap must be locked into place but it unlocks when you use it so you have to hold it in place to grind. Easy to assemble but each time you want to grind its a pain to twist/unlock and lock into place. I would much rather use my Nutri Bullet as it does a much faster and better job. Also to grind/chop you have to hold the button so not as convenient as a blender. Dont be fooled because it is Cuisinart, i feel like this entire food processor should be discontinued.

This is the second time I’ve bought this food processor. My last one lasted for 7+ years, and only replaced because the inside gear wore and wasn’t catching well anymore, not bad for frequent use (like 2+times a week). It’s small which is what I love about it, and packs a punch. No unnecessary parts to fiddle with and cleans well in the dishwasher.
