Stainless steel cooking surface does not react with food or alter food flavors. Great for classic cooking techniques like sautéing, frying, browning, searing and slowly simmering sauces.
Triple-Ply construction includes the unsurpassed heat conductivity of a pure aluminum core. It insures maximum heat retention and even heat distribution, eliminating hot spots.
The exclusive Cool Grip handle stays cool on the stovetop. The handle's unique thumb rests are riveted for perfect balance and ultimate control when lifting and pouring.
Top customer reviews
I really liked the idea of getting a saute pan because it holds way more food and is more versatile. I can cook for 2-5 people with the same pan, whereas the 10" frying pan that comes with the 7-piece set can barely make enough for 3 people.
It cooks very evenly and like others have said, can be made non-stick with the right preparation. Simply warm up the pan first, then add oil, and once that is nice and hot, add your foods. I made the best crepes I've ever made in this pan with no sticking at all!
The look and feel of the pan is also excellent. It's heavy and high-quality, but not too heavy. Also, the brushed stailess exterior with the mirror-finish rim is so sexy, if a pan can be called sexy. I like these so much that I always want to clean them up and they make me happy every time I see them!
Get this, it's highly recommended! It's too bad it costs as much as the 5 1/2 quart saute pan :(
On the upside, the pan and lid are quite attractive and heavy. The larger size is wonderful for searing and not overcrowding a pan. It cleans up easily.
On the downside, the bottom of the pan has warped. With induction, you want as flat and perfect a contact as possible for maximum effectiveness. This less than 2 month old pan no longer fits the bill. The two of us in the household both believe neither of us handled the pan improperly - for instance, neither of us believe we tried to heat up the dry pan at a high temp, or introduced a very cold thing to the pan, or put it on a tiny burner, etc.
Haven't attempted a return yet. May try. But I won't buy anymore MCP for sure.
Warping would be disastrous if you have a flat cooking surface (eg. induction, glass, ceramic). The pan would spin around, and if contact is required for conduction (eg. glass/ceramic), it would heat poorly. But since I have a gas stove, it doesn't matter as much. I might keep the pan for it's good conductivity and heat capacity, thanks to the aluminum layer in the middle.
Throw them in the dishwasher...what's not to like? Into the oven? Searing? Simmering? I have no complaints.
I notice that others find the discolorations annoying. It doesn't compromise the function of the pan, but if you don't like it, just use a stainless cleaner on it. Personally, I never bother.
Just for the record? I've had no problems with the 'chef' version either. In fact...it's hard to tell much difference.
