OK...Have to update the product feedback after using this for a few months. Believe it or not, the oven turns ON all by itself. At first I thought I had done something wrong with the knob but after the 3rd time it did this without even being used in over 24 hours, it scared me. This is a safety issue. I will contact the manufacturer. I now unplug the oven after use. It still works terrific, yes is stylish, love it, but I cannot recommend it due to this situation. It could be just my unit that's doing it...but I just have to warn you all considering buying it.
I love the new improvements to this toaster oven.
Easier to read dials. Cleaner looking metal outside.
I like that you have to turn the toaster on with the new dial instead of just pushing a button like before toast, as sometimes before we would accidently leave the oven on just for a toast.
If you like light toast you can get it or darker if you prefer.
The oven is just the right size to fit on my very small counter space. The metal tray is very sturdy as well. Just cover it with foil to keep it looking like new.
So far I have cooked sweet potatoes, reheated pizza, cooked chicken as well, my husband toasts his pumpkin seeds and he has been known to burn everything! and the seeds come out perfect.
I would definitely buy again and recommend to customers that trust the Cuisinart name.
I don't have a lot of excess money to just buy and if I don't like it, give it away.
So I researched ovens before I bought this one again.
As a toaster: We use it multiple times a day as a toaster and are still figuring out how to toast without burning bread! It burns toast really, really easily. The dial for turning on/setting the toasting lightness is an approximation. Meaning the dial does not have any gradation lines or reference points so you have to turn it and guess if it more towards then lighter side than you did last time when the toast burnt. You also cannot turn the dial to make it stop or end when you see burning- instead you have to open the door, use a knife to pull out the rack, and then poke/pull at the toast to get it farther from the heating elements. (...Unlike some toaster ovens where the rack moves out when the door is opened, this one must be done manually with a potholder grasping the edge and pulling.) Needless to say, we have thrown away a LOT of burned toast/bagels, etc since I bought this!
As an Oven: We have used this oven once and it works well to keep things warm. Have not baked from start to finish it it yet. As a toaster, I would NOT buy this again. I am thinking about buying a traditional toaster to use everyday and keep this "toaster"-oven in the pantry for when I need another small oven.
