I love that the tongs are all metal. That makes them easy to clean, and there is nothing that can melt in a high-temperature situation.
The locking mechanism, which you pull outward to lock closed, is strong and secure. (Some other brands, like Amco, have a ring you push *in* to lock. On a pair I owned, that ring quickly deformed and would get stuck inside the handles, without locking anything.)
The Cuisipro locking tongs are my ideal tongs. I would recommend them for any kitchen.
I didn't know where my original tongs were purchased from, but I remember they were stamped with "Cuisipro". Luckily a search on Amazon brought up these tongs and I was pleasantly surprised when I found that these tongs were almost the exact same ones like I had before. These tongs are great for grilling and the locking mechanism to close the tongs is the best (push or pull on the the "ring" at the base of the tong). The length is really nice to prevent scorched hands and I have no problem with gently picking up and moving food with these tongs.
At $10, this beats anything from OXO...and I'm normally a OXO fan.
Short story - I thought I owned these. Then one day the rusted, wire spring broke through the rubber insert on the handle and stuck inside my palm. And yes, that hurt. And yes - you guessed it - they were NOT Cuisipro's - just a similar looking brand. I examined my real Cuisipros (12 inch stainless with silicon tipped ends) and noted the spring was a wide piece of steel (not a convention wire wound spring) that had NOT rusted and couldn't break through rubber inserts - particulary because there were no inserts. The wide steel spring is a superior design, regardless of the handle. I could have fixed the old ones, but my sore palm would never forgive me and would always hesitate when I went to grab them.Read more ›

These are some durable tongs. Don't get me wrong, I don't stomp on my kitchen tools or anything, but I don't gingerly sit everything on a kitchen towel like Martha Stewart. Read morePublished 5 months ago by Fort Made of Prime Boxes
