You may not think you need it, but I can assure you, you do. This great herb keeper does just that, it keeps your herbs fresh. I've been using this for several weeks. Today I finished parsley that I bought 3 weeks ago. I've kept rosemary, cilantro and thyme in there for 2+ weeks and used it all before spoilage. Much longer storage times than before the herb keeper arrived. Don't let the small price fool you, it more than pays for itself quickly. I try to change the water every few days but have gone over a week without and still no spoilage, the water, however, had a light grey tinge to it.
It is so nice to no longer throw away money in the form of fresh herbs.
When I buy fresh herbs, I wash them first and trim the stems and drop them into the holes at the bottom of the insert. The way it's set up, you can rest the bottom tray in the center of the container while you arrange the stems. Within a few minutes I push the tray down and set it in the refrigerator. When I need a sprig of thyme or a few stems of parsley, all I have to do is pull the tray up and retrieve them and voila! They're ready to be used.
Just and FYI, basil and mint should NOT be refrigerated as both will spoil quickly. I advise against putting those in the Cuisipro Herb Keeper.
