Yes they were "squished" when they arrived. I think most people who are into fermenting for gut health are going to applaud that Amazon used the least amount of necessary packaging. They came nestled in a plastic bag in a padded envelope with the rest of the things I'd ordered. I took them all out and pre-washed them (by hand with soap and hot water) and they went mostly back into shape. After my first use... setting it over the edge of a bowl and moving a rubber spatula back and forth through it to strain my kefir... it went back to perfect shape and has maintained it since. Seriously, lighten up people!
They seem to be sturdy. We do some rubbing and tapping to separate the kefir grains and they're holding up great. Yes the holes are a bit smaller on the smaller strainer. So I guess if that makes a difference we use a different sized bowl and/or do a little at a time. I use the medium sized bowl most as it fits my bowl and my liking, but we've used them all. They're plastic... I don't expect them to last forever. They were a reasonable price. I would totally buy these again.
My husband is using the other two for actual kitchen use and he didn’t say anything so I’m assuming that means they’re a-ok haha
I'ved used the 5" strainer a couple of times now and I like it for my purpose: I use it to strain a bended mixture of cat food and water to remove partcles that will block an e-tube; I DO NOT force anything through the mesh, just strain out the bits. For this purpose it works just fine and looks like it will last for awhile. The shape of the mesh is now perfect and firm after being rinsed in hot tab water, as I noted in my first review

Con: The smallest one tore off where the mesh was attached to the round plastic after second use. I simply hand washed them and was very surprised by the tear. Otherwise, the larger two have lasted for a month of use now so I may have just received a defective one. I use the two larger ones to strain my kefir grains and then add coffee filter to strain kefir to make kefir cheese.
It has been over 6 months now, and my small mesh strainer still works as the tear did not keep growing. I've also been able to use it for straining my homemade almond milk instead of using bags which greatly frustrated me. As result of these three lasting and being used now daily for all sorts of things, I'm increasing my stars from 3 to 4.
These strainers are great for kefir because the nylon doesn't mess with the kefir like metal ones do (Something I learned when researching kefir making). They are easy to wash (I wash by hand using dawn, hot water and my dish brush) and also store nicely. The mesh would allow them to store flat if you put something on top of them, but I like the shape, so store them stacked inside other strainers.
I have ONLY used these strainers for kefir, but they would be great for rinsing vegetables, fruit or straining other liquids. I highly recommend these!

About the size. Upon receiving my strainers, I was a little dubious that they'd be fine enough to hold quinoa (my reason for buying them). The spacing of the mesh definitely gets larger with the bigger sizes. Turns out, I was completely wrong. The largest strainer holds the finest quinoa I could find, and I shake it quite vigorously as I wash. Nothing has fallen through. As other reviewers have stated, it'll definitely hold Kefir grains as well.
Another bonus is that I used to use a cheap, metal strainer to rinse canned beans and the like, but they would always get pieces of shell stuck in the grating. It's not a BIG deal, but I don't have that issue anymore because these are so soft. Because of that, they are stupid easy to clean. A simple rinse gets the job done.
They feel quite durable. For $20ish, you could do a lot worse. These should easily fulfill your straining needs.
Aggiungo che avere un set di tre, giudicato a posteriori, è stato meglio che averne solo uno perché è comodo avere colini con dimensioni diverse perché in cucina può sempre capitare di avere bisogno di dimensioni diverse
