I was very excited when I first descovered this band. Mainly because they were completely origonal sounding to me rather than just ANOTHER band out there with the same sound that doesnt stick out from the bland herd. Ive always appreciated culture and different instruments in music rather than the same ol line up in rock and metal music. This band is very classical yet its actually interesting. The rhythms are so melodic and deep yet they're intensly brutal at times as well. If you want something different than you need to buy this album and listen to this band. Though maybe one should start out buying their other cheaper albums first, which are just as awesome. When I first bought this album before I started using Limewire, it was a lil painful to give about 37 bucks just for a CD but music this unique, skillful, and just plain awesome is worth the extra money.

If you are a fan of metal, but really prefer the music to the noise, or you are a fan of classical, but don't really like falling asleep to your music, this is ideal. I consider it the best of Apocalyptica to date, as the addition of the bass and percussion adds a great amount of depth, and their original compositions are brilliant. However, I, like many of the other reviewers, really could have done without the singing on the first track; it's not bad, just not really their forte, and it obscures the brilliance of the playing, but since it is included without the vocals, that should not at all keep you from rushing out and getting this CD as fast as possible.

I am a huge fan of Apocalyptica and it's been a bit diffcult to find this album in stores (at least around here) and it's not on iTunes. I am so glad I got the special edition! It was defintitely worth it! Every single song on this album, especially the extra ones only available on the special edition, is AMAZING!!! Seriously, these guys can do no wrong in my eyes!!

Now, don't get me wrong, the music contained on the CD is stellar. Top notch. From what I've been able to hear, it's really great.
My problem is with the CD itself and the encryption used on it. When I plugged it into my Windows machine and attempted to play it using WinAmp, there were no files detected on the CD. Curious, I chose to explore the CD to see what was the matter. And I found a grand total of 3 files. I tried disabling AutoPlay, and still have this issue. The CD will play if I use Windows Media Player, but I find that that particular player cuts out partway through songs, won't play the disk from start to finish, and it uses up too much resource to leave it running in the background.
I find this extremely distasteful and have grown quite upset with the CD itself. I won't be purchasing anything more from this band if this is how they're going to encrypt their products, despite how good their music is.

I had never purchased an Apocalyptica cd in the past, but this album is great. If you have an open mind to both classical and heavier rock sound, I would definitely recommend this cd.
