- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2024This book should be a requirement in all education programs. With the variety of cultures and identities that make up Americans today, learning how to respect and value all of them is key to teaching. It's written in a way basically anyone can comprehend. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2006This book was required for a graduate class on diversity in the classroom. It offers insight on the way students of different racial and ethnic background learn best. It provides ideal examples of how to change the classroom to make a specific group more comfortable.
All in all, strategies offered can relate to any person of any color. They spell out respect, good teaching, variety of techniques, etc.
I found it somewhat elementary and a repeat of knowledge I had already gained through other classes.
This book is for beginning teachers or those who have not been exposed to a variety of races in the classroom. Still considered a good book, but not a must for a teacher's library.
