Editorial Reviews

"The Culture Solution has it all: a deep command of the key intercultural concepts, scores of spot-on, real world examples, pages of immensely practical and instantly applicable advice-all in language immediately accessible to the non-specialist reader. This is a book to read and savor, but most of all it is a book to be used."―Craig Storti, internationally recognized intercultural trainer and consultant, author of many books including The Art of Doing Business across Cultures

"Foreign assignments are both rewarding and challenging. This was the case for me when I was on assignment in South America. Dr. Mendez's new approach provides useful and practical tools based on real-word situations. I highly recommend this book to anyone considering an assignment overseas."

Terry B. Kahler, Vice President, Dell, Inc.

"The Culture Solution is a crucial guide for those looking to develop an understanding of modern challenges in the global workplace. With her international business acumen and meticulous analysis of eight cultural dimensions, Deirdre Mendez opens the door to success for those navigating the waters of cross-cultural ventures. Not only does Dr. Mendez share her expertise on the various cultural scripts that drive our behavior, she teaches readers to capitalize on cultural discrepancies and turn them into a professional boon rather than a barrier."―Sharon Schweitzer, JD, author of Access to Asia: Your Multicultural Guide to Building Trust, Inspiring Respect, and Creating Long-Lasting Business Relationships

"Dr. Mendez postulates that it's important to learn and use the skills of cultural and team dynamic analysis to size up situations and locations effectively, no matter what your background, language skills or education. Do enough international business and you will find yourself someplace you know little about, trying to achieve something under circumstances where you could really use a "map" in every sense of the word. Dr. Mendez provides just such a map. In addition to the utility of the approach, this is a fun read, enlightening and even self-illuminating."―Raymond J. Brimble, CEO Lynxs Group

"The Culture Solution is a must-read for anybody who needs to accomplish an international mission. It shows you how to quickly recognize specific cultural tendencies and know the motivations of each one in teamwork and HR management. This book is a highly useful approach for developing cultural competence and it takes you quickly from understanding to strategy."―Karl Wimmer, PhD, Director, Design Enablement, GlobalFoundries

"The Culture Solution is an outstanding book for anyone interested in learning to navigate the global environment and understand the subtlety and nuance of cultural difference. The book is useful for the novice and expert alike, providing a comprehensive, yet easy-to-use system for diagnosing cultural patterns and using this knowledge to be more effective at creating successful international business partnerships and relationships."―Andy Molinsky, PhD, author of Global Dexterity: How to Adapt Your Behavior Without Losing Yourself in the Process --This text refers to the paperback edition.
