This is the most empowering book i've ever read. As a feminist, lesbian, and avid reader/student of women's studies, i have to say that this is the best book i've read all year. Inga Muscio talks about female anatomy, rape, abortion, orgasms, menstruation, and prostitution. While i didn't agree with EVERY point she made, i was shown an itelligent point of view that made me think of things i had never thought of before. She made me feel even PROUDER to be a woman. I have purchased copies of this book for my girlfriend and another female friend, and i intend on buying a copy for my mother. I wish i could give this books to everyone that has ever meant anything to me, male and female, to share her beautiful points of view. She embraces life, praises women, and entertains all at the same time. I recommend this book to everyone for an education and a new appreciation for women and for life. I recommend this book HIGHLY, and you'll want 3 copies (one for yourself, one for your best friend, and one for your mother/sister!) ENJOY!

I loved this book, simply because Inga reminded me why we need to stick together and love each other. I have expereinced so much viciousness from women in my life and I think it stinks! Her writing was so personal, I felt like she was right there reading to me. She just reached right into my heart and opened it up to some things I didn't think of before. She supported some of my current work with women - no matter how much they resist love them anyway. We need to be kinder to each other in such a world like this today. There were a few things that I didn't agree with or didn't like - but that is unique to Inga and I'm sure there are others that needed to hear that message. I've shared this book with several of my friends and continue to pass it around - everyone loves it!! By the time it gets back to me - I will be reading it again for sure :)

I'm a feminist in the sense that I want women and men to have equal rights, but I've never realized how insidious this culture is in propagating subtly misogynistic messages. This book is about giving women back our choices. We have a choice to use cost-effective and earth-friendly tampons and pads. We have a choice to use birth control that does not manipulate or damage our bodies. We have a choice to protect ourselves AND other women from rape. The author goes on about how oppressed Iranian women have far more love for one another than the average American woman, how in some countries genital mutilation is forced on girls, but in America we PAY to mutilate ourselves. There's more than just women's issues, however. She gives evidence on how corporations are lying to us, how the media is lying or shading the truth, the sheer idiocy of our president, etc. I didn't used to be a very politically aware person, but this book made me realize that we NEED to know what's going on in this world. So, ladies, do yourselves a favor and read this book, and guys, read this book so you don't become one of the silly men simply because everyone else is.

You will be amazed at the belief systems and socially ingrained ideas and restraints that you animate without even knowing it. This book was an over all enjoyable read. There are some parts that get a bit conspiracy theory (I particularily wish that my fellow liberals and feminist would spare Christianity for a while, just because it has been used by men and WOMEN to do some harmful things doesn't mean its evil in itself or that all Christians are woman hating republicans). Maybe you won't switch from a nice little tampon to a blood towel or agree with her view on home abortions but it will make you think about your position in the world as a female. Alot of what she says really makes sense; or at least are worthy subjects to consider whether you agree with her or not. All in all, it is a beautiful book written sincerely.

She also gives a ton of good information about various items meant for menstruation and other things. Some of her ideas come off as a little extreme at first, but I think she is a fun writer, and it gave me new things to think about and new ways to view the world. I don't subscribe to everything she says, but plan on making use of some of her resources. I found the book to be very fun and interesting and different from what I usually read.

I am an atheist. Unless you're talking about astronomy, I'm not into reading about the moon in terms of intuitive feminine knowledge. It just sounds stupid.

The book is full of vapid writing, made up words like "disintegratey".

This book is the worst book I've read in years. I will not finish it. I think instead I'll toss it in the garbage.
