In the meantime, a busy Robert had opened his independent film and video production company called Resonant Image Studios in 2010 to produce original screenplays, both licensed and in-house, as well as children's graphic novels/stories and interactive games and also found time to write his own book titled The Bell Ringer.
In this 56-page, stunningly-illustrated story, told in lyrical form, the child learns about young thief Tye Tucker who, after stealing a charity pot from a young female Christmas "Bell Ringer" out to help the poor, is confronted by an elf who forces him onto The Holly Express, a time-travelling train. Much like Ebenezer Scrooge, Tye must not only come face to face with his past misdeeds, but catch an unsettling glimpse into his possible disturbing future. After his escape from the train and learning what Santa's "nice list" is all about, and how he manages to get gifts to everyone the world over, he changes his ways and in so doing presents the young Bell Ringer with an ending beyond her wildest imagination. It's sprinkled throughout with visual clues, both obvious and not-so-obvious, into the unique world of the Bell Ringer. The book was a finalist in the 2012 International Book Awards.
As a companion piece, there is also The Bell Ringer audio book with original music by Robert, an insert containing a sampling of the book illustrations, and sound effects in the track which contains the radio play version of The Bell Ringer story. The contents, all instrumentals except track 2, are:
1. Dance Of The Elves; 2. The Bell Ringer Story (radio play); 3. Flight In Bubbles; 4. Karen's Wish; 5. A Gift Through Time; 6. Adventure Is Ringing; 7. The Bells Of Charity.
A sure Christmas winner for those children still with a sense of wonder and not hung completely up on thumb-spreading video games.
