When the sheriff drives up, Taylor is the only naked woman who is captured. They have known one another since high school and he is a kind man. He does not arrest her, he helps her pick up the clothing and purses of her two friends, he wraps her in a blanket and drives her home.
Ryan, dated one of her best friends in high school. Taylor is getting over a cheating fiancee. They are both attracted to one another and eventually one thing leads to another.
This book did not do it for me.
Ryan was not completely honest with Taylor Taylor was not honest with her friends. I have lived in small town Texas, and I must say, keeping any kind of large secrets has about the same chance as everyone giving up football in Texas.
The entire thing seems to move very quickly. She keeps saying they can't do this and then they do this.
I wanted to like this book a ton.
I understood the characters. Ms McDaniel develops them quite well. All the back stories are well done. But, basically I simply did not care much about anyone.
I am sure it is just me, but it just didn't enchant me.
This book is a fun read interspersed with some sober moments. I was surprised at Kelsey's role in the outcome. I am looking forward to the next Cupid, Texas installment coming soon.
From beginning to end, I enjoyed reading this story as three best friends decide that it’s never too late in life to test the superstition that most of their classmates tried out when they were still teenagers. Taylor, Meghan, and Kelsey had me in stitches from Galentine drinks to dancing around the Cupid statue in the middle of town (naked, mind you), to figuring out what to do about the fallout of that dancing.
This is Taylor’s story, along with the Sheriff, Ryan, who caught her while her friends took off in other directions.
Where I most associated with Taylor was in the lack of confidence. After rejections, it’s hard to believe that another man will see something good where one has belittled and shamed. Allowing chemistry to lead the way is a good start. Communication is the rest of the formula for a positive new relationship.
My only complaint is the ending. I thought I had hit the jackpot and we were going to find out about another couple. Instead it was a teaser leading to the next book. Yes, I’m whining! I don’t have the next book! Of course, I’m looking forward to getting it and reading more of the results of that little rascal Cupid’s magic.
Note: while I was given this book as a gift, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

The superstition is fun and the idea of going back home again and finding a new relationship with someone from before can be kind of fun. Nothing was unlikable about the characters, but I didn't connect with them and didn't actually really care about their HEA. Even Taylor's friends didn't really make me care enough to want to read their stories. Actually, the only character I particularly liked was her customer Jack. He was a sweet older man who had lost his wife of many years and had good stories/advice.

Meghan and Kelsey manage to escape when the sheriff arrives, but Taylor is left to face him. She is still in the buff. How embarrassing! Ryan, the sheriff takes pity on her and takes her home instead of locking her up. He has noticed her curves, although he remains professional. From then on, he is unable to keep her out of his mind and decides to persue this attraction. There are complications. She is just recovering from a break up with her cheating ex, and he dated her best friend in the past. Hence, their relationship starts with a lie from Ryan and Taylor withholding the truth from her friends. Will they eventually right this wrong and start an honest relationship?
It's a short and funny romance with some laugh out loud moments. The storyline and characters are fun. An interesting read.
A second chance love story with a difference, this is a refreshing twist and has a great cast of characters to launch the series. Ryan and Taylor haven't seen each other since high school but their chemistry now is off the charts. Taylor however resists this chemistry with so many excuses: he's her besties ex, she has major relationship baggage, a new career to launch and they are back in their small home town - it would just be wierd...wouldn't it? Or could it actually be perfect?
Lots of reminiscing, laughter, poignant moments, girly hijinks, a crazy town superstition, naked dancing at midnight and love, a fantastic first book in the series - this book is a free download and the rest of the series is on Kindle Unlimited....perfect!
