Product Description

World's BEST Travel Guitar!!! This guitar's patented revolutionary unique design joins the end of the neck to the body creating an all around brace removing the need for a truss rod. The three sound holes in the top side create a better listening perspective for the player. The round hole and F hole help to distribute the tones equally along the front of the instrument. The Cupit Travel Guitar is the perfect instrument for Artists - Writers - Pilots - Truck Drivers - Doctors - Lawyers - Farmers, Hikers, Cyclers, Motor Cycle riders, etc..... This brief case guitar fits everywhere. Airplane overhead bins, motorcycle saddle bags, under seats, closets and under beds. You can sit in your car or airplane seat and play The Cupit without protruding into your neighbor's space. Strings: Heavy gauge .014 - .059 Length: 22.5" (This measure is from end to end) Case: Custom fitted case repels water and protects guitar. The back straps and handle make for easy carrying. Weight: 4.5 lbs. including case. The Cupit Travel Guitar is like no other guitar on the market. This instrument offers its own identity and is an excellent addition to any existing collection. The Cupit Travel Guitar can be tuned standard (EADGBE). The manufacturer suggests tuning 3 steps up to A (ADGCEA) to achieve the best overall tone for this 17.25" scale guitar. It would be just like clipping a capo on the 5th fret on a full size guitar. Here is a video of a customer playing his Cupit Travel Guitar and recording on his handheld camera. He has pretty large hands, yet he isn't having difficulty playing. Additionally, his sound is sweet and full of graceful tones. His music is harnessed here for your enjoyment: http://lnkd.in/b2KR2dw

I wanted a travel size guitar and the long versions really aren't much more convenient than a regular guitar. This one is great, small, short and lightweight and is well made for the price. The fret board is narrow, good for people with small hands, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone with large fingers. The manufacturer recommends tuning about a half octave higher than a regular guitar which gives it a pretty sound, very harp-like. But I wanted it for practice and wanted to solidify my knowledge of note placement and sound on a full size guitar, so I tuned it lower...to a EADGBE tuning. This makes it a bit harder to get a clear sound on the lower strings....I have to work harder....but it does work!! I also changed the strings it came with to an extra-light steel string as I am used to playing on nylon string guitars, and the original strings seemed a bit too stiff considering it has such a short neck. Anyhow, I really like playing this instrument....it's fun, lightweight, small....and definitely a conversation piece as most folks have never seen anything exactly like it!!!

I guess this concept could actually work out and Cupid shows a real will to do well with good mechanics, really good strings and a nice backpack case. But thick wood plus tons of varnish make for a rather dead and unequal sound (forget about the normal guitar tuning but even tuned higher it's closer to a 30 toy guitar than to a real instrument). The string height isn't well adjusted and can't be corrected, so it snarls in the lows. My Martin Backpacker is orders of magnitude louder but also much more expressive at a lower price (but of course the neck length is a hinderance when traveling). The Cupid is too narrow neck for men's hands. In the present state it's way too expensive for a toy but i still ended up giving it away to friends' kids. Yet there might be enough potential in the concept to allow a more delicate luthier (hey you can find them even in China) to make it shine.
