I will admit there were times I did not like Savannah. I felt she could not see the truth because she had blinders on when it can to her friend. In fact there were a few times she made me angry. But, Micah was my heart. It was a joy to read about him. Even though he was a tortured soul he shined the most in this story. His capacity to love in spite of all the pain was beautiful.
I believe the author did an excellent job of making me feel the emotions of these characters. I felt I could relate to Savannah and Micah. Micah was the character I understood the most and I fell in love with him.
Most romances are told from the heroine's perspective, but this novel is told mostly from the hero's perspective and I believe that makes it unique.
Micah had told Savannah she would come begging to him first, and that’s how he views the text message until he gets to the hospital. He didn’t think that after three years his heart would still have the same reaction to her. But it’s hard to forgive her refusal to believe in him or her abandonment.
I found the content of Micah and Savannah’s story to be excellent. However, the mechanics were lacking. Two words were put together as one 30 times, and one word had a space in it, making it look like two words, about 5 times or more. Adjectives were used where adverbs were needed, such as “clear” for “clearly” and “bad” for “badly.” Savannah’s wavering between loving Micah and despising him went on for much too long. In addition, the cover is all wrong, since Micah is described with long blond hair and a sprinkling of freckles. Although some of these errors were distracting or annoying, the content is much more important to me than the mechanics. Overall, I loved the story and liked knowing the main characters inner thoughts so thoroughly. I gave it 4.5 stars, which rounded up to a five.
