About the Author
Since she began writing in 2008, Cara McKenna has published nearly forty romances and erotic novels with a variety of publishers, sometimes under the pen names Meg Maguire and C.M. McKenna. Her stories have been acclaimed for their smart, modern voice and defiance of convention. She lives with her husband and son in the Pacific Northwest, though she’ll always be a Boston girl at heart.

I liked Curio very, very much and would recommend it highly. I did have a couple of reservations, possibly because the original format was in serial form. There was a bit of a repetition about the two main characters' anxieties. The heroine seems to have remained a virgin because she really wanted a beautiful, perfect lover/boyfriend and wouldn't settle for less so she just never tried. That's a bit weird to me, but it's the author's prerogative to give her heroine a hang-up with which I can't empathize. The hero's anxiety has morphed into a whole disorder, whereby he can't leave his flat. That I could understand, since I'm a bit more familiar with that.
Anyway, the writing is - as usual - top notch and the story is sexy and fun. If you like Cara McKenna, you'll like this one.
McKenna has created two unique characters that at first glance might not seem endearing. Caroly is the nearly 30 year old virgin whose love of beauty has caused her to shy away from men. She aspires to have sex with someone physically perfect, but fears she will be rejected. This leads her to Didier, a Parisian prostitute who is renowned for his beauty in the art world after years of modeling. His life has been reduced to providing pleasure to others due to his own psychological issues. Didier, essentially a prisoner of his looks, is the most complex and captivating male lead in erotic fiction.
McKenna's ability to not only bring these characters to life, but to show, in a breathtaking way, how they impact each other is nothing short of magical. Download a sample first. You will quickly see if this is a book for you or not. I am thrilled to see an author with this kind of talent willing to take chances. McKenna deserves a much wider audience.
Wonderful collection of stories, that really work best just read straight as a novel. What a story that built and built. There are no side characters and I loved the connection, the emotions and the heat. Another excellent offering from Cara McKenna.
