Beluga whales! Sea lions! Sharp-toothed piranhas! Curious George at the Aquarium is a lively story based on H. A. and Margret Rey’s popular primate and painted in the original watercolor and charcoal style. The aquarium is the perfect place for a little monkey to get into big trouble. Splash!
A new toy store is opening and George can’t wait. Once George gets inside, the owner thinks his antics may be bad for business. It’s not long before George has her jumping through hoops to try to contain his curiosity. Will George’s playful nature really drive customers away, or will everyone’s favorite monkey find a clever way to save the day?
My kids love this series. The books have bent and haven't held up well, but my kids are rough on books because we read several each night before bed. My Kindergartener enjoys these books because she's learning to read and I like them because they challenge my child. My younger child loves the stories! These books are a variety of subjects. The illustrations are cute!
My daughter is a huge Curious George fan. After checking out the same books from the library repeatedly, we decided it would be a good plan to just buy some for our own library at home. This box set was the perfect starting place. All the books in this set are super cute and probably the most requested books in my daughter's collection.
I've since bought two additional sets. For her third birthday, she wanted a Curious George party so we bought two of these box sets and gave out the individual books as party favors. At less than $2 a book, they are just the right price for a favor and much better than a cheap piece of junk toy that will just break. All the parents loved having a book to take home and enjoyed selecting whichever book they thought their child might like.
Whether you are a new Curious George fan, a seasoned fan looking to expand your collection, or selecting a gift for a little George fan, the price of this set can't be beat!
We had a Curious George themed birthday party for my 2 year old, and we gave these books out as the take-home gift. They were very well received and I am happy knowing that they can be enjoyed over and over again (instead of the cheap toys that are normally given - which are amusing for an hour and then broken and trashed). All of these books have great little stories about Curious George and promote interest in reading books for any little boy or girl who is a fan of that ornery monkey!
I was so glad to be able to find these books to give as a gift to our son and his wife for their new baby. Curious George was a favorite for our son when he was little and he's already enjoying reading them to his little guy. It was nice to be able to get a so many books for this price. They're paperback, but will work just fine. They come in a box that will work well for storing them.
Great collection of Curious George Books. The box is, of course, completely useless once the books are removed. Toddlers and young kids are not known for their gentleness and the box was smashed and ripped before I could even consider repackaging the books. But the stories themselves are wonderful and the books hold up great. Would definitely recommend to Curious George fans.
I really like this set of books. Because the price was so affordable, we used these as party favors for my child's Curious George themed birthday party. There are 6 different titles, so each child was able to select what book he or she liked. There were also 2 left over, so we got to keep 2. The titles included Curious George and the Puppies, Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory, Curious George Visits the Toy Store, Curious George Makes Pancakes, Curious George's Dinosaur Discovery, and Curious George at the Aquarium.
Great books for preschool aged children and older.
I made sock monkeys for Christmas presents and put a Curious George book with each one. My dog loved the books too. He tore into the box after it was delivered and left bite marks on some of the books, but they were still good to give.
Great price for 6 books! Our two-year-old loves George, and asks several times a day if we can put on the PBS Kids cartoon version of Curious George - it's the only tv show he'll sit down and watch in its entirety. Since we try to limit screen time to half an hour a day, having various Curious George books is a great answer to when he asks to watch George on the TV - it allows us to redirect him to the Curious George books we have in our home library and spend more time reading together. Since buying individual paperback children's books can be expensive (ranging from $6-$10 each), this set of 6 books for approximately $7 was a great deal. We've bought more George books that were sold individually, but this set of 6 provided a good start for our little one's George collection
Hans Augusto Rey was born in Hamburg, Germany in 1898. As a child, he spent much of his free time in that city's famous Hagenbeck Zoo drawing animals. After serving in the army during World War I, he studied philology and natural science at the University of Hamburg. He then married Margret Rey and they moved to Montmartre for four years. The manuscript for the first Curious George books was one of the few items the Reys carried with them on their bicycles when they escaped from Paris in 1940. Eventually, they made their way to the United States, and Curious George was published in 1941. Curious George has been published in many languages, including French, German, Japanese, Afrikaans, and Norwegian. Additional Curious George books followed, as well as such other favorites as CECILY G. AND THE NINE MONKEYS and FIND THE CONSTELLATIONS.
