Wow!! I was highly impressed with this warped and twisted novella. Fast paced and easy reads that creep under your skin like icy nails of horror.
A couple of the stories are disturbing, but you keep reading because you're entranced. Ms. Christiana certainly knows how to trap the reader with her prolific writing style.
I highly recommend this intriguing, scary, twisted tales that will stick with you...
The stories are disturbing, but I couldn’t stop reading them because they’re so engaging. And they all have that moment when I said, “Oh, my goodness.”
Dark tales that may or may not give nightmares, but will leave you wondering about the disturbing actions of individuals (chills down my spine).
I have read a few other books by this author. The other books I have read deal mostly with the supernatural, this book does contain some supernatural aspects, but the main focus is dark and twisted. Which I can say, the author did a great job with. I hope she has more dark tale books to come. Even though the short stories are dark, I wouldn't consider them gory, so if gore isn't your thing, you are safe to enjoy a good scare from these tales. If I had to compare these tales to something, I would say they remind me of the old Creep Show tales. I am a huge fan of dark tales and horror, so this was a great book to add to my stash. I wouldn't say that this book will give you nightmares, but they will give you a good chill, or a few cheers. I hate to say that I may be a little more dark and twisted than I would like to admit. A few endings I was cheering saying "ha, that's what you get". With that being said, maybe I should refrain from saying that it won't give you nightmares, and say that it didn't give me nightmares.
I highly recommend reading this book if you are a fan of twisted tales. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Curiously Dark Tales is an anthology collection of stories exactly as the title describes. They are dark and not for the faint of heart. But they were exactly the kind of dark, twisted stories I love. I wish there wasn't such a stigma on this kind of writing. Too many times people pick up these books and expect to be surprised by the content but not horrified. But if you don't want to read a horror story don't read the horror genre. And this book does exactly that. It horrifies you in the best of ways. Debbie Christiana takes no prisoners as she writes you into each short story involving taboo topics such as murderers and violence. There is no romanticising in her stories just plain, gruesome horror stories that are wonderfully written and very chilling. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes their horror with a dash of realism because this is exactly what Curiously Dark Tales provides.
