I was thrilled to find this coloring book (for reinforcement) and was optimistic about it based on the reviews. Unfortunately the pages of the book could not be viewed before purchasing. I received the book today and am sad to say that I'm not entirely pleased with it. The message and meaning behind its purpose and existence is wonderful, but the quality is not, particularly for the cost. My 2 year old probably wouldn't care but being an artist and someone who dabbles in graphic design, myself, I'm disappointed by the low quality copying, obviously sketched (in pencil) and then drawn over pictures, smudges and smears on the page (not stains, but ink from printing) and poor image quality of the pictures (observed on the activity pages) overall. A poor job was done inserting some images pages and you can tell that the person who did so did not do any form of real image editing. May or may not be easy to see with my photos. Overall, I believe in the power of this coloring book for little girls - a slap in the face to Dove's Love Your Curl's Campaign (I just had to throw that in).... but the book (for $10+) is of poor quality. I really want to support the creator, but can't get caught up in doing so just because she is a woman of color. I returned it and asked for a refund. I will say that if the book were more polished, I'd buy it again and share with my other natural - rocking friends. I'd laminate the pages for endless coloring opportunities, make things out of the images, etc. It would be a great tool for any Mom, a great gift for any little curly girl, and a gem to add to the readily available mainstream books that you can find at any retailer.
