I have a thick black Asian hair and I set it up to the highest temperature of 450 Fahrenheit. It heats up quickly, glides the hair pretty smoothly and leaves the hair silky and smooth. This is one of the best irons that I've used and for the price makes it exceptional. This was a good purchase.
