I'm reading this textbook for my graduate course and had high expectations of receiving practical ideas to use in the classroom. The author is obviously anti-NCLB which appeals to me. However, while he states philosophical ideas and concepts that can make a school stronger, he does not include actual applications. In other words, this all sounds great on paper, but for "real-life" instruction, I find the ideas impractical. We may not like NCLB, but we also cannot ignore it. This book promotes putting aside instruction geared to NCLB testing and pushes for time-consuming planning and implementation of instruction I am not convinced will actually help students learn what they need to learn for a testing practice that will not be going away anytime soon.

Full of information with no real writing. The other has strong views that are in your face in a few paragraphs but there is little energy elsewhere. It's a struggle to read and you only press on because there's a quiz at the end of the week.

I recommend this text book to all leaders in the educational field. I plan to keep and use this book throughout my career as an educator because it contains a lot of practical information. The vocabulary used in the textbook are explained well. I also liked the case studies presented in the textbook. If you are planning to lead from the "front" and be excellent at it, you need this book. P.S. Buy it and then Keep it!

Hate to admit it but I was not excited about receiving this text. It is the first college text I have looked at in 16 years! To my surprise it has been very informative and overall easy to read. Not to mention book was in perfect shape at a used price.

I purchased this book for a class I took in Grad School. After reading it from cover to cover, I have decided not to sell this book back because it is a great resource to keep handy as an educator. I have presented a lot of information from this book to my colleagues and administrators.

With so many boring textbooks, I was ready to sell this one back, before I even got it in the email. But, little to my misjudgement, this book was an easy read and great information. I will not be selling it back! Really enjoyed it
