Ellie Lancaster is a young woman with a broken past, selfless and dedicated, doing everything she can to hold on to her present and keep it from falling apart. Collin Dailey is a mysterious young man who shows up in Ellie's life, never really giving her answers, and lashing out with an attitude as if Ellie committed a personal offense against him. As keeper's of an ancient curse, they will fight supernatural entities, their own past demons, and a charged sexual tension, to keep the world from falling into darkness around them.
It's a thrilling story that will have you hanging on to every word, laughing like a lunatic or screaming at the book, and manage to break a little of your heart. Still to this day I can't go without thinking Collin "F'n" Dailey whenever I think back to this series. I absolutely love this book, as I'm sure you'll have your very own reasons for loving it too.
The ending leaves you wanting for more, but it's okay because you don't have to wait for the second installment, The Curse Breakers, anymore!
About the story:
The Curse Keepers was inspired by the Lost Colony of Roanoke, which is the Virginia settlement that disappeared in 1590. In order to protect the curse from being lifted and to prevent the Native American spirits from being released from the gates to seek revenge, the Curse Keepers must protect the gate from opening. There are two Curse Keepers that are descendents from each tribe: Elle Lancaster and Collin Dailey. The curse keepers must never make physical contact to avoid breaking the curse. However as fate would have it, Collin shows up at the diner where Elle works and a magnetic pull causes both Elle and Collin to unite. Their contact has caused the seal that has been protecting the gate that's holding the spirits to break. Now Collin and Elle have seven days to close the seal to prevent the spirits from being released to seek vengeance. Elle and Collin must work together to perform the ceremony to close the gate, but Elle is untrained and cannot remember her duties.Elle tries to remember the stories her father once told her on how to fulfill her destiny. Collin and Elle are working to put the pieces together while spirits that have escaped continue to threaten their life. Collin and Elle must work together to revoke the curse by performing a ceremony to close the gate. This story is filled with action right to the finish. The unexpected ending left a nice approach for the second novel. This novel is highly recommended!
Ellie has been taught about a curse relating to her family since she was a little girl. After a family tragedy, she quit believing in the curse and refused to learn any more about it. This turns out to be quite the mistake once she meets the very hot but obnoxious Collin Dailey. Was the meeting a coincidence or was it fate that they met?
I am already in the middle of book three and can’t get enough. So addictive!
I absolutely loved this book! Along with this quote, it sealed for me how much I really enjoyed it. I wanted to reach into the story world and give Ellie a high five and a hug.
The story mixes Native American legend with the concept found in other books where the Gods are in control of the lowly, undeserving humans. However, in this book, the chemistry between Ellie and Collin along with the dangers they experience will keep you glued to the book. I didn't want to put it down. While some things were predictable, you were not left with the feeling of 'been there, done that'. It is definitely worth the read.
I found myself feeling the emotions and could almost "see, hear, touch, and smell" exactly what the characters did. At the end I felt a twinge of disappointment, not over the quality of the writing, but that it was over. I will definitely continue with the series.
This story is definitely for grown ups. There is some profanity and the love scenes are descriptive. Nothing too bad, but not written for a youngster.
In summary, "The Curse Keepers" is a great read, great 1st book of a series (more to come), and is a STEAL at the listed price!
