I read the reviews before making this purchase and most of them were correct. The picture is great but the sound is kinda suckish. For the money, it is a really good value and the sound isn't THAT bad.

I bought this TV a few months ago and everything about it is fine except for the sound. In fact the sound is so bad I was thinking of getting rid of it. But before I got rid of it I decided to open it up and swap out the speakers with a pair from a new Sharp TV that I had just broken. It was a little difficult and I had to take the thing apart and remove one of the circuit boards to get to the speaker plug it in, however the speakers plugged in fine and when I put it back together the sound was considerably better. However it still didn't quite sound right and so I started playing around with the settings and what I discovered was that when I put it on surroundsound it actually sounds normal! When set on surroundsound off it sounds crappy, when set on surroundsound on it sounds normal. Perhaps the design is screwed up and on really means off and off means on for surroundsound. That's actually what it sounds like to me now that I am comparing the two. So maybe I wasted my time swapping out the speakers but I do think they are a much better pair and they were going in the trash anyway. So if you have this TV and the sound sucks try turning surroundsound on and maybe you'll actually be turning it off and your sound will be normal.

it's a great tv for a kid, but if you're looking to watch movies from more than 2 feet away, it's not the greatest. I like the way it looks, it's a sharp looking TV, but just not the greatest for noise projection.
