I always, always enjoy Wessex's books, no matter how cliche, cheesy, or tropey. I am addicted, unabashedly, to this series and I devour them like a homeless man at an all you can eat buffet!
Kara is hired on by a super rich, well-to-do man who is looking to refurbish a house in Alabama. Being that she's from New York City, she isn't used to the slow, simple, small town life of Cherish, AL. She arrives at the mansion that she is going to be working on, only to find out that it's a complete wreck. And the garden looks like a freaking jungle.
She's exhausted after all her traveling and starts to check out the place. After a long day of working and taking copious notes and measurements, she decides to draw up a bath and relax. Which is when our hero, the second main protagonist, Hank the delicious, mouth watering gardener, decides to make his entry, not knowing that Kara is taking a bath... all naked and stuff, haha!
One thing I love, love, love about Victoria Wessex's love interests/heroes is that they are so authentic, so real, so easy to relate to... and yet different and unique and mysterious and sexy as hell!
Hank is no exception in that department and was such a joy to follow his narration. Their relationship was great along with the banter. The sex in Wessex's books is always scorching, I-need-a-cold-shower-NOW, HOT !
The Curvy Architect and the Gardener is a fun, HOT, wonderful ride, as are all in this series, and I definitely recommend it. It's a breeding book, so there's unprotected sex, but I thought the way with which it was handled (Kara's doubts and Hank's love and adoration) was done very nicely.
The only gripe I hold with this series is that I wish the books were longer! :( But Victoria always fleshes everything so well despite the short length and creates worlds that I find engaging and characters I can't help but love and think of over and over again.
Kara is reserved because of her size...and believe me it can happen and isn't any joke.....Been there Done that...and got the T-shirt to prove it!!
Hank is a small town guy that is so full of southern charm that it's in his blood!!
Kara is full of self doubt and always has been because of what others have always said...especially her family..but she's on a job in Alabama and really out of her depth.
So she has to go with her gut here cause even tho her demons keep prodding her she is trying to push them down.
Hank is a little out of his depth not knowing how to deal with this Yankee and her demons and the fact that he's not real sure about interacting with a woman he wants so badly.
This is a sweet romance from a southern point as goes kind of slow....then Wham....kind of knocks you on the head..lol.
Being from and in Alabama ...yes I can see it all happening this way...and yes we still have small towns like this around here.
Get a chance and enjoy this story of two people finding what they've always been looking for....love and forever.
Great job Ms.Wessex....you got a home run with this one!!!
