Pros: Tells me where north is. Good suction cups

Cons: Flimsy, a little slow.

I gave this 4 stars mainly because of its price and functionality. ( the build quality is quite cheap )

I have been looking for a compass to put on my car and most were in the 40 dollar range.

This was exactly what I was looking for. It sticks right on your windshield and tells me where I am going. You need a philips screw driver to tighten the compass up so it doesnt sag down on the window. If it sags down the compass wont work because it need to be elevated in order for the N/S/E/W to turn, otherwise it hits the side and cant move.

The suction cups looked cheap, but are actually really good. There is a small delay when I turn the car and for the compass to catch up.

All in All. I would buy it again. Except this is shipped from another retailer (not amazon). I just wished I bought 2 so I could have saved on the shipping price.

This works about as well as a poor man's toupee. I have spent hours on this one and the other inexpensive one I purchased (the "mini 2" liquid filled ball compass in a clamshell plastic mount, from the Compass Store dot com) and if you live in Nebraska neither of the two herein mentioned compasses will work as well as the handheld boy scout style version. The Airglide looks better than the "mini 2" sitting on the dash, but it might as well be a plastic dancing Hawaiian hula girl bobble figure. Let's just say before I bought these last two vehicle compasses, I never would have known that no matter where I'm driving to or from, I'm always headed south by southwest. Get a handheld boy scout version compass as a companion to this, if you really need to know which direction your vehicle is pointed (pull over and stop on the road shoulder or park next to the curb while you use the handheld compass please).

After 2 weeks in the sun, developed a leak and leaked what appears to be mineral oil all over my dash.

It is still undecided as to the exact way to point. I have tried adjusting it but to no avail, try looking for something more effective and accurate.

this compass spun around and around and never gave a proper direction. first you'd be east, then suddenly north, then west. drastic changes, based on nothing. i threw it out.

Plain and simple, it does not work and cannot be adjusted. It just sits on my dashboard like a lump.

Looks like it would work, but doesn't - imagine that. I've carefully followed compensation instructions tens of times over a period of years trying to get this gadget to accurately indicate heading/direction. At best I can get it to be about right for "south" or near south, while being completely confused about west, north, and east - clearly useless and apparently should be viewed as a car decoration for the deprived. Save your money and get a dash clock - some of those actually work :-)
Once upon a time, Costco sold a good electronic compass. I wish I'd bought 10 not just the 1 I did. It worked *well* - but I sold it with the car a number of years ago. I've seen nothing that worked since then. Argh.

I bought this as a low cost marine compass for kayaking. My requirements are limited - no adjustment is needed for sheet metal, automotive electronics, etc. I deeply sympathize with all the reviewers who had issues with 'truing' the compass using the internal calibration feature. I ultimately removed the magnetic compensators so I could at least get a reliable reading based on 'magnetic north'.

For purposes of providing an indication of direction, standing up to salt water and not breaking the bank, it works just fine. If I was concerned about precision or durability, I'd be inclined to pay (much) more for another product.
