I've used the same Mo# on my rough rig for several years to carry a framing axe had expected this item to be the same. Biggest deficiency is that the upward curve of the loop is greatly diminished, to the point of being barely perceptible, allowing the tool to twist about. It needs to keep that honed blade to the rear and could not do that until I had put it in a vise and reworked it. The photo misrepresents this feature.

It also rides higher than my last, but this can be seen.

This hammer holder has quite a large capacity -- I can't imagine any hammer that you would want to have hanging on your belt not fitting in the large metal loop.

I bought this as an adjunct to a leather tool pouch (also from Custom Leathercraft). The tool pouch has a small hammer loop on it, but it's tight with a finish hammer and way too small for a framing hammer. Hence the outboard hammer holder.

Luckily the two vertical slots in the leather back of this hammer holder were large enough that I could (barely) squeeze the quick-release snaps of the tool belt through them, in order to add this to the existing belt. In use, this hammer holder tends to move around so that it is directly behind my butt (with the tool pouch on my right side) but that's not horrible. I could slide this around to my left side if it became an issue.

Because of the large size of the loop it is very easy to get the hammer in and out -- it does not catch or hang up on the loop.

Not much else to say about this product -- it seems to be well made out of decent materials. If you need to add a larger hammer holder to an existing tool belt, this is not a bad way to do it.

Overall it serves its purpose efficiently and they are made to last. They do deform a bit on the edges after some use but that is normal and not an issue, after a while I used some snips to cut the excess material on the sides and bottom part and I like it more than ever. I use this everyday.

Holds my hammer higher up on my tool belt so it doesn't bang around my knees like it does with the hammer rings on my pouch. After a few months, hardly any sign of being used even though it has been pretty hard.

Personally, I needed something to put my rock-hammer on, when prospecting. Being a 20-ounce hammer with a 6-inch rear pick, and a big thick handle like on a 3-lb hammer, I was worried it wouldn't fit when I ordered this. I was wrong. This loop fit my stanley ripping hammer, and also fit my rock hammer (fit the rock hammer almost perfectly).

It is for bigger hammers, the leather is pretty tough, the loop appears to be stainless, and overall it has a good heft to it. The belt-slots are large, for a big belt, up to about 2.5-inches.

If you do any gemstone hunting, or dry placer gold prospecting, you can't afford to be without this little tool. It really keeps you from always hunting your hammer, or not having it with you when you need it most. It also frees up your hands, as I like to walk with a walking staff when searching for garnets (snakes are never friendly, but are quite good at camouflage, and where I rock hunt, I think all the rattlers are broken, they never seem to rattle until AFTER they've nailed me on my snake garters).

Do yourself a favor, and try adding 4-ounces to your belt - you'll be glad you did.

I'm just a home handyman so I can't speak for the pros but I really like this holder, especially when I'm working on a ladder. I used to lay my hammer on the top of the ladder or one of the steps-- nice way to get beaned!! This fixed that nicely!

I carry around a claw hammer most of the time I'm working around the home, but I've never had a good place to put it on my tool belt. Typically, I'd stash it in the large part of an electrician's bag on my 2" leather tool belt, but the hammer would often hit other things in the bag area, and would be a little unwieldy.

Rather than buy a $20+ 'carpenter's bag' to weigh down the other side of my tool belt--just to carry the hammer--I bought this hammer holder. It is very sturdy, with thick leather, and a single piece of metal riveted onto the leather. My claw hammer fits perfectly, and in a pinch, I've also used my medium-size rubber mallet in the holder.

The belt loops seem to be designed perfectly for a 2-2.5" tool belt, but could work (probably slightly loose) on a smaller belt.

Highly recommended if you ever need to bring your hammer with you, and hate bending over to grab it every minute.

I use this hammer holder while Im at work (construction) and it is by far the best hammer holder Ive ever used. The last one I had warped and when I pulled my hammer it would catch and I would have to fumble with my hammer. I got this one and its beautiful.
