I really enjoyed Rachel’s interactions with pretty much everyone. She was cute, funny and full of life. Unfortunately, that’s about all I liked about the book, and I guess I just did not get it. I can’t tell you much about Joe since we did not get his POV at all, and he sort of talked like a person in his late teens, early 20’s in spite of being an adult in his mid 30’s. Had I been Rachel, I would have stopped talking to him after the tenth time he asked me if he was a creep or apologized for being a creeper. I would also like to mention that other than a few friendly texts here and there, the first over 55% of the book is pretty much about Rachel and her love of doing other people’s hair. It was very informational in that regard. I learned so much about cutting layers, framing the face, foiling, shears, how a hair show actually works, how a hair salon works and how hard the hair stylists work. Like I said, very informational. So the relationship with Joe develops more in the second half. It’s like a super slow burn. And you want it to burn already. It really felt more like a teen romance more than anything. Teen romance with people who were far from being teens.
Other than that, Rachel’s friends were really awesome and hilarious, and I’d probably read their stories if they were to make an appearance.
Everything about this story has you captivated. Rachel has an amazing group of friends. All of them are supportive and really take care of Rachel (not that she needs it). Rachel is such a strong woman, she goes through hell in a past marriage but is now a bright and bubbly woman who makes everyone gravitate to her. Joe is an exceptionally easy going, sweet, gorgeous, and amazing man. He deals with Rachel's insecurities so well and makes you want him to give tips to your own man. He's easily lovable. Both him and Rachel are.
I can't get enough of this book. I loved it beyond belief and didn't realize I really needed a sweet read right now. The writing, banter, characters, everything will grip you tight and not let go. It's a definite five star and I'm telling everyone I know to READ IT!
14 years later, she is divorced now and trying to rebuild her life. She can't believe when she runs into Joe again. He bought her dream house.
They take it slow rebuilding their relationship.
I loved this second chance love story. It was sweet and fun. A new author for me who I will definitely be checking out more of this works.
Rachel emailed Joe as a teenager telling him how much she liked him, he emailed back saying he didn't feel the same way. Guys get scared too and lie. The lie caused a ripple effect for them both.
They reconnect and you can't help but fall in love with Joe, he is like a warm sweater and hot chocolate in front of a fireplace on a cold wintry day. You just want to melt along side Rachel as she falls in love with him. It was a heartwarming soul warming book that left me warm and tingling all over. The got their second chance and at loving each other and it was worth it.
