I recently ran across this book at Sam's and bought a copy.

It's full of nicely photographed pictures of finished projects. But it also has clear instructions for making your own pieces. Templates are included in the back of the book for all of the designs. One of the things I really like about this book is the variety of the projects. There are several kinds of cards plus framable artwork, mobiles, banners, puppets, place cards, gift tags, tree decorations, window decorations, and more.

The feel of most of the projects tends to be traditional with lots of botanicals. But there still seems to be a nice variety.

I would definitely recommend this book for a beginner or even someone with a little experience who is just looking for some new project ideas.

I would cringe actually cutting up a book I paid good money for. But if your printer also makes photocopies, there's no reason to cut up the book in order to enjoy making the pretty patterns inside. The author even says it's okay to do so. This is a nice entry level book to excite and entice you into the possibilities of decorative paper-cutting. I am disappointed that not every design photographed in here has a corresponding pattern to use in the back of the book. That's just cruel. Don't tease me with a picture of a nice looking finished project only to have me find out the pattern is not included. However, there are many designs to choose from, a good overview of paper-cutting techniques, and easy to apply instructions. All in all, I think it's a good place to start if you want to try your hand at paper cutting, and a good reference book to keep on your shelf.

Even though I have never been into paper cutting or similar artistic hobbies; nevertheless, I did find this book (Cut This Book: Step-by-step instruction for artworks, greeting cards, keepsakes, and more by Emily Hogarth) interesting and unique. It may be because in most cases paper cutting is more of a female hobby, and I do not know any men who practice this type of art form. I do think teachers will love this kind of book. I am more into other artistic forms like poetry and never considered this particular art form until reading this book.

This book is organized into five chapters. The first section provides a short history of paper cutting. The second section explains how to get started on these paper cutting projects. Designing paper cuts is covered in part three. Part four deals with the many projects you can create using this book. The final part has many interesting templates you can either cut out of the book or make copies to work on various paper cutting projects. If you are into creating artistic material of all kinds you should check out this very interesting book.

I saw the smaller book in the store and decided to buy it, but when I received it, it was a much larger book and it has both patterns and materials to create the items listed in the book. I wish there were more patterns and less actual projects, but that doesn't make me like the book any less

I got this with my Brother ScanNCut. Went through it with Grandson on drive home from store. We both plan on doing many of your ideas. Just did the Reindeer with my ScanNCut for my Grandson. He requested it before singing Olaf's song from Frozen. ;) Thanks
