How it works

The Amazon Fire TV + HD Antenna Bundle comes with three separate products: Amazon Fire TV, an AmazonBasics Ultra Thin Indoor HDTV Antenna, and an AmazonBasics HDMI Cable (6 feet). When used together, you can access great television shows and movies without cable. Fire TV lets you stream TV shows and movies from Amazon Video, Netflix, HBO NOW, and more, while the AmazonBasics HD Antenna receives free over-the-air HD local broadcast content from stations like ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX.

Note that these devices are not integrated; it does require switching inputs with your remote to access the content you want to watch. An internet service subscription is required.

I love this bundle! Moved out of my parents house a little while ago and for the longest time, I was able to go without a TV. During the last superbowl season, I was able to snag a non-smart TV for an amazing deal. Needless to say, without cable/satellite or even an antenna, I was left with just the basic TV channels and fuzzy TV channels at that!

After some research and found out that all I needed was an antenna and a TV top box. And since I was a Prime member and not a Netflix subscriber, why not just take advantage of the free Prime Video we get?

ENTER AMAZON FIRE TV
As a Prime subscriber, it's a no brainier to get the Fire Stick or the Fire TV. The reason why I went with the Fire TV is because of the Ethernet port and it's faster processor. Since this will be my primary (and only) TV, I wanted it to be fast.

Aside from Amazon Prime Video that I was able to get for free, I loaded the Kodi app and it's addons. This basically supplements any content that Prime Video doesn't have.

AMAZONBASIC ANTENNA
As little as I usually watch regular TV channels, this little bugger is a must. It takes the fuzzy out of every channel. It's basically a flat antenna with a 12ft or so cable so you can mount it near your window. They include all the mounting hardware too. Super easy to install with no tools required.

WHO WOULD I RECOMMEND THIS TO?
This is the cable cutting bundle. I would recommend this anybody who is trying to cut back on monthly expenses. It's perfect for students. Perfect for anybody who owns a non-smart TV.

This is a fantastic bundle of two amazing products from Amazon. And it’s especially better for prime members like myself.

------The Amazon Fire TV-----

Let me start by saying that I am an Amazon products fanatic, and have cherished nearly all their products, especially the Echo. The Fire TV is no less.

**The Setup Box Itself**
The device is relatively small at 10 oz, 4.5" long, 4.5" wide, and 5/8" thick. There is a remote which is included as well (supports voice commands, a little on that later) at that weighs about 2.5 oz and is 6” long, 1.5" wide, 1/2" thick. The setup box is connected to your television via an HDMI cable which IS included in this bundle, and it also plugs into a power outlet on the wall to power it up!

**Initialization**

Amazon sets it up for you so you don’t have to do anything. All your account info etc, is already pre-installed just for you. If you are giving this as a gift, you can ask amazon at the checkout page to NOT set it up for you.

**QUALITY**

It supports 4K streaming and in audio it’s got Dolby Audio, 5.1 surround sound, 2ch stereo, and HDMI audio pass through up to 7.1. What more could you ask for?!

**ALEXA (Voice Control)**

There is a speaker button the remote, and that’s Alexa. You basically have an Echo installed right into the remote and Fire Tv. You can say things like “show me a mystery movie”, and voila, there will be a list of mystery movies, hand-picked by the thousands of Amazon reviewers, as well as data from IMDB (a subsidiary of Amazon). And of course, many regular Alexa tasks such as weather and time etc, also work.Read more ›

The Amazon Prime Video service is fantastic (and it's included in your Prime membership), and a good alternative or supplement to Netflix. A few years ago I would've been "meh" to Amazon Video, but now that they're more established, have more content, with great sales when it comes to purchasing movies, my opinion has changed (I now own a lot of HD/4K movies that I can watch anywhere and share with my family; it's so convenient!) Amazon Original Series, which features lots of award-winning shows is also a perk of Prime Video. And now, they have this HD TV bundle for you.

This kit comes with:
• Amazon Fire TV + remote, with 4K output [Second Generation] ($99 retail retail)
• AmazonBasics flat HDTV antenna, 35-mile range ($17.99 retail value)

Some of you may already be using an Amazon Fire TV Stick, when it's been offered on sale throughout the year, in which case you've basically used the "lite" version the Fire TV. The Fire TV is the faster, Alexa voice-controlled, AC WiFi, 4K version of the TV Stick.
