"For anyone who's ever wondered what goes on behind closed doors in a veterinary clinic, this book provides an entertaining glimpse into the world of pet care. Miller's stories are alternately amusing and fascinating. Cute Poodles, Sweet Old Ladies and Hugs is an entertaining and informative look from the inside about the frequently mad world of veterinary care." Self-Publishing Review
"This collection is highly recommended for anyone who likes stories about animals, their human keepers, and the physicians who are charged with keeping everyone healthy, happy, and well-informed. Unlike stories designed to entertain, this collection educates and offers a professional vet's perspective of what constitutes good animal care on all sides - an invaluable and unique aspect that sets Cute Poodles, Sweet Old Ladies, And Hugs: Veterinary Tales apart from pet stories largely created for entertainment value."

In this book, I found that this profession really is challenging. Dr. P. J. Miller, the author of this book, proved it. But then again, despite the challenges in his profession, he also pointed out that being a veterinarian is fun and fulfilling. I loved how he described his passion with his work and with animals. It takes a bit of a dedication to being able to feel that way! I admired this book, as a whole. I found it sensible and full of depth. Everyone who aspires to become a veterinarian should check this book out!
The writing was easy to follow and conversational which made this a nice bit of brain candy to enjoy. The book does go into depth on many of the diagnosis and treatments which, combined with webmd, I now feel like a full-fledged doctor. Not completely, but it was fascinating to get the play by play of medical analysis in these cute furry friends. For anyone interested in veterinarian work or just a humorous read every now and then, this was a great change of pace.
The author was good at writing the characters into life. I felt like I knew everyone in the book personally. This made for a nice read.
There are some rambling sections and the book could do with a bit of editing, but overall it was an entertaining, quick read that kept me turning the pages. If you love animals and your vet, you should definitely read this book.
