To start, I use Pepperidge Farm whole grain bread. It's wider than normal bread (like Wonderbread) but also not as tall. Because it is so wide, I am able to turn the stamper sideways and fit two stamps along the bottom half of the bread. I then used a pizza cutter to evenly cut the bread horizontally so that I could put the filling on the top half. That means I'm able to get two full pockets from one piece of bread. Their how-to video has the stamp going right in the middle of the bread which would be very wasteful.
When they say don't overstuff these... they mean it. I was conservative with the PB&J on my first pocket so I tried a little more jelly on the second one, which resulted in the pocket bursting when I sealed the edges. But it was kind of cool because it looked like an alien bursting out of the animal's stomach so it wasn't a total loss.
The set doesn't come with instructions but it does include a link to their website and how-to video. It wasn't loading for me but a quick Youtube search brought me to a video that showed me how to make the sandwiches. I found it to be very simple and they looked just as good as the photos I've seen online. I could see myself making a ton of these in advance and freezing them which would make packing my son's lunch much easier. I also washed these by hand to ensure they don't get ruined in the dishwasher (plus one of the pieces is so tiny).
Overall, this is a nice set for those who like to add cute little touches to their kids' lunch.
making hard boiled eggs into shapes was a little difficult for me but I was still able to get a face print and slight ears for my egg-imals. I used large eggs and they didn't turn out the way i liked, they didn't fit right in the shaper... But they tasted good, and still turned out cute!

One animal takes half a sandwich. My 2 year old is a good eater so I take a one piece of bread and put two different designs on it. Then so that there can be applied pressure for a while, I place something heavy on top of the sandwich designs while I continue making the rest of his lunch. Then I put peanut butter and jelly on another piece of bread excluding the outer edges and crust. I remove the the sandwich designs from the first piece of bread and place over the other peanut butter and jelly. After I do the two cut outs, I am mostly left with just the surrounding crust which I then feed to the dog. Overall I am very happy and I love that I can make fun food sandwiches for my toddler to enjoy.
