About the Author

Mayret González is the Executive Director of ARTempoCuba, the independent non-profit for Cuban arts and culture. Mayret studied Art History in the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the University of Havana (2006-2010). She holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of La Salle, Mexico City (2013). She is co-author of this and the previous edition of Cutting Edge Art in Havana. Mayret is based in Philadelphia, PA, and Havana, Cuba.



Anthony Rubenstein is a boardmember of ARTempoCuba. Anthony holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, Anthony has been involved with tourism to Cuba since the 1990s. Anthony was Executive Editor and a translator of the previous edition of Cutting Edge Art in Havana (2015). He has worked in the motion picture industry, in private equity, and as an activist and proponent for clean energy in California.

Maritza Cristina García-Pallas is an independent editor and translator based in Brussels. From 2007 to 2013, Maritza worked at the José Martí Publishing House in Havana. Having previously worked as language lecturer in the UK, she is completing a Masters in Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies at KU Leuven, Belgium, and holds a Masters in Hispanic Linguistic and Editorial Studies from the Universidad Central "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas, Santa Clara, Cuba (2012).

Raquel Carrera is an art historian and curator based in Havana, Cuba. She holds a BA in Art History from the University of Havana and a Masters from the University of Salamanca, Spain. From 2005 to 2010 Raquel worked as Associate Director of Visual Arts Programs for the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba (LFC), a non- governmental, non-profit art and cultural institution in Havana. Raquel curated the Xin Dong Cheng Space for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China from 2010 to 2011. Raquel co-founded Yagruma.com, a crowdfunding app for Cuban arts and cultural projects, and was Director of the Cuban art gallery "Evolución" in Lima, Peru, from 2015 through 2016.



Liatna Rodriguez is an art historian and curator based in Havana, Cuba. She earned her BA degree in Art History from the University of Havana in 2010. She served as director of Havana's Galería Servando from 2012 through 2015 during which time she focused on developing the gallery's roster of emerging artists. Also, in 2012 Liatna co-created the successful Havana Open House project which was a collateral offering of the 11th Havana International Biennial of Fine Art. In 2015, Liatna co-founded Havana's independent exhibition space "El Apartamento."
