First off all, this does not differentiate between a device generating RF or a bug generating RF. It just picks up RF. The range is limited, realistically to 12 inches or so. Useful for sweeping rooms, but you will have to cover the whole area at close range.
Example of practical use: is there a bug behind a lowered ceiling tile. Is there a bug in the smoke detector.

It performs as well as one would expect for the money paid.

Nice product and effective to my needs during my vacation. I tested this in my apartment before I took my vacation. It really detected the camera in my apartment's office. The antannae needed to be pull-out to make this very effective. it had an instruction with it but the english was confusing. Some words used in a sentence sounded funny to me. Anyway, the important for me was the product itself. The pack included an earphone if you don't want anybody to hear the detection sound bu I never used it. I just turned off the sound the watched the indicator light while scanning the area. It hasd an adjustment to increase and decrease the sensitivity. Some people had difficulty in using it since it will detect microwaves, celphone, and other devices that has radio devices. But that was not true for me. I took my time in scanning the area. That's what we should do if we to be sure for our privacy for a peace of mind. First, I set the sensitivity to the highest setting while watching the indicator light. If it catches frequency, I decrease the setting until the highest light turn off, then moving it towards every direction that will make the highest light to turn on. It means that I'm coming towards the right direction then decrease the sensor again. The highest light will turn on again everytime you go nearer to the camera until you find the camera. There's difference between the celphone and the camera frequency. Just test it between the two and you will find it.

If you plan on really using this for what it was intended get a different one. This one barely picked up my wireless signal standing right next to it. I would like to find one that actually works and is not expensive.

The sensitivity switch is really hard to set. The best we could get set it set only gave us a range of about 4 inches. We tested it on our own cameras so the test was a controlled test. It would also give a false read on any LAN line phone for some reason. Bottom line, if you're truly wanting something to sweep for bugs and cameras this product is not going to do it.
