Can I hook this up to my TV?

It depends on the output capabilities of the TV. The TV must have a 3.5mm output. Usually these are headphone outputs.

Can I plug this directly into my game controller?

Although some game controllers do have 3.5mm audio output, plugging the green source plug into the controller can damage the source plug. If using the speakers this way it is recommended to use an AUX cable and the Aux port on the controller.

Does it work with laptops?

Yes, as long as the laptop has a 3.5mm audio output.

The sound is clear, and the subwoofer puts out good sound as well. I bought Amazon basics similar tobthus a long while back and the subwoofer was good the speakers sucked. The cyber acoustics has great clear sound. BUT if you plan plugging s head set ypu will have to turn off the speaker and the sound is poor with headphones

I have these hooked up to my son's TV in his room just to give his games a little more oomph. Definitely sound nicer than some built-in TV/monitor speakers I've heard and the sub helps with some of the low-ish end (it ain't slammin' by any means). In fact I keep the sub turned mostly down because it's just too boomy but it does tend to help the speakers with the lower frequencies. My problem with the TV part though (a limitation of the TV, nothing about these speakers) is that we're unable to change the volume with the TV remote so we either have to change it using the volume dial thing that came with this or within Windows as his PC (running through a separate room) is also connected to the TV. This isn't really a problem at a desk where the dial can be placed right there in front of you, but my son doesn't have a desk yet so the speakers are all sitting on a bookcase under the TV

I do and don't recommend these. If you just need something cheap for sound with a little bass, these aren't bad. Or like in my case I just wanted to get some OK speakers for my 6 year old sons "gaming setup" in his room they do a decent job. But I don't totally recommend if sound quality is a bigger priority as you can find similarly priced Bluetooth speakers that sound better

Just kidding. These are awesome. Yes they are not going to sound like a 1000 dollar system. (Which I own and listen to regularly). But for most people they should be pretty close at lower volumes and with most types of music. I found alternative and other fast paced guitar heavy music to be less than perfect. But jazz sounds great. Positioning and taking the time to dial in the subwoofer is going to be crucial to an optimal listening experience. Since the speakers are so small this can be extra finicky. Understand these speakers will blow out if cranked up. Great for personal use but not for a party. But I really am shocked at the sound and build quality having paid less than 33 bucks on sale including prime shipping.

Hello! Alright so here's my list of what's good and what's not. 1. Bass - The bass isn't incredible and high quality. It's an okay bass, I'd say only 30 percent bass which isn't perfect for me. I like lots of bass like the bose speakers but those are too expensive. If you like bass then this isn't the speaker system for you. 2. Volume - The volume control works excellent besides it not being as loud as my other speakers. Volumes is 80 percent loud and my other speaker set is 100 percent louder.
3. Design - The design is excellent and strong, everything is well made. 4. Setup - Setting up was easy. All it took is common sense. 5. Using different apps for bass and quality control - I used different apps to see how bass and sound quality is and it's not as good, infact the bass apps and sound apps made it worse to where you can't hear anything. 6. Recommend - I do recommend this to people who don't care about bass. If you want more bass, bigger subwoofer or bose speakers or jbls are the way to go. Jbl and bose are ones I recommend, best quality and bass speakers.

1st review: For the price, it's decent. The volume controller is the number 1 feature that I was looking for so I can manually control the volume of my speakers or headphones. Headphones and/or auxiliary devices (iphone, android, etc.) connect to the volume controller as well (auxiliary cable not included), which is convenient.

My only issue seems to be one that others have complained about. There is a constant humming or buzzing sound coming from the subwoofer. The hum is a low sound but I can hear it pretty well. The hum is on from the moment that it is plugged in and switched on (via volume controller), and does not change in volume when the volume of the speakers are changed.

UPDATE: A few minutes after writing this review, I realized that I can switch off the subwoofer and speakers via volume control knob BUT still listen and control volume of attached headphones which is AWESOME. I listen via headphones probably 30+ hours a week, and I listen via speakers and subwoofer probably less than a couple hours a week.

UPDATE 10/16/2014: I bought another set of these speakers. It seems the hum is not as bad, but still a little noticeable, compared to my first set. I notice that some songs sound better than others with the subwoofer. There are times when I just want to throw away the subwoofer. Then there are times that it's not bad. I wonder at times if I would have rather have paid another $30 to have a better set of speakers. I don't know. I mainly use my headphones so it doesn't bug me too much, I suppose. The two small speakers were great for my use. And, again, the volume control knob is awesome. I use it all day long everyday.

UPDATE 12/07/2014: For the most part, I don't use the subwoofer because I am always plugged in with my headphones. The few times that I've listened to music without headphones, I have been unhappy with the subwoofer. It's pretty bad. Even with the knob on the subwoofer turned down almost all the way, it sounds distorted and terrible. I don't know why. It's that way with my other set of the same speakers too, so it's not just this particular one. I guess I get what I paid for, which I think is still fair. I may fork out $75-$100 later on to get some better, name-brand speakers that sound better.

After reading all the bad reviews I thought this thing would be terrible. I bought it anyway because I thought it didn’t make sense what some of the things people were saying. they were very wrong it has tons of bass it can be loud enough to fill most rooms I don’t understand the bad reviews it has a knob on the back that allows you to adjust how much bass and you can go from but no bass way too much bass. I was just running it off my phone and it was loud enough to bug your neighbours. Sure you might not want to use this to DJ parties but it’s great for home use. It’s mind boggling how someone claimed it had no bass. Maybe they didn’t find the knob or received a broken unit. The tweeters are fine. Nothing special but all the basic frequencies are there.

It’s a surprisingly good sounding unit for the price. I have much better stereo gear like a 200watt sub woofer and studio monitors so I know what decent bass sounds like and this has decent bass. I bought this for my office. No it’s not a 200watt sub it’s 18watt so you shouldn’t expect to fill clubs. Maybe a small party would be ok.

I have a big Harman Kardon soundbar on my basement and Sony in my living room.but don't compare.I bought this unit for my room and it works fine in my loptop.better than norhing.the sound quality is too deep like you are in a cave.the bass is good,volume control is nice coz you can put it closer to you and the reason I give 4 stars on it is the value for the money and as I said it works on my room but nothing is fancy about it.
